1. Ask the AD is good, format is fine but make sure quality of audio is where it should be..sometimes it sounds like it was done in a closet.
2. (A )Seems good but consider getting input from college students who really understand this stuff (and recent recruits).
2. (C) Haven't used it as live but have reviewed it after. Nice touch. Can you do Live Stats (as you did in the women's basketball tourney) for those who can only listen to a football game and not attend?
2. (D) Use the BGSU website for information but not aware of the blog aspect. Nice to know.
2. (E) These are nice but again, quality could be better. Consider using opening graphics as a way to enhance the video to a more professional look as well as inserting highlights. Audio needs to be cleaner as well (speaking of football videos).
3. Did not know of newsletter, but will subscribe.
4. Photo galleries are nice. Are photos available for purchase? And, can others post their own photos along with what you post? Consider a video highlight package here as well. Since many home games for football are produced by BCSN, can these be archived for viewing on-line after the games?
5. No, don't subscribe.
6. These are nice features but compared with other schools, say Miami U. doing something similar, a little sizzle on the packaging of them could make them even better, again including video.
7. The website looks good, easy to navigate and use. I would promote big events earlier and with more flair.
8. Yes and yes.
9. Yes. The problem encountered (again for football) is that your bids for going game packages are done much too late. Most people book their trips well in advance of the contest. Bids for travel packages to away games last year had you announcing the winner a day or two before the actual trip. If someone doesn't win and wants to go then airfare is very expensive at the last minute and hotel space may be very limited. I would consider putting bids for games a month out so plan can be made accordingly. Otherwise you miss out on possible bidders who may be interested in bidding but have already b=booked flights and hotel rooms.

On other bid items, I would consider doing more items more often as right now it is hit or miss. Game balls, helmets, jerseys, sideline passes, pressbox passes, courtside seats, directing the band, etc.

10. I have looked at the store but agree with most that the offerings are slim and/or non-existant. If there is going to be an on-line stoer than it needs to be competitive with the on campus stores and create items that other larger schools offer. Hats, jerseys, jackets, gold shirts, head covers, towels, banners, window stickers....
11. Yes. See above about audio and video.
12. Yes.
13. The is OK. Easy to navigate and find information.
14. Compared with other MAC schools, middle of the pack. It's clean, nice but static.

1 - Is Ask the AD a valuable piece of our site? Is the current format (recorded audio) the best way for Falcon fans to receive the information?

Online transcript would be of more use.

2 – Are we using social media in a way that is positive for our fans?

I won't use Facebook and such for personal purposes, so its N/A.

A – What information would you like to see from our Twitter page?

Scores.

B – Is it a good idea to beef up our use of Facebook in 2010-11?

From a business standpoint, I suppose, personally I won't use it. Its just another website.

C – Do you enjoy/use the live chat features when made available during games?

I only use the chat here at AZZ.

D – Do you view the live blogs and the blog site at blog.bgsufalcons.com?

No.

E – Are the videos we provide on YouTube a positive? What other types of videos would you like to see?

I would like to see HD video, or at least live standard quality video of games, rather than games on cable TV.

3 – Do you subscribe to the E-Newsletter and is it a positive?

Sure.

4 – Do you view the photo galleries on a regular basis and are there ways we can improve upon them?

No.

5 – Do you subscribe to the text messaging service and how can it be improved upon?

No. But then I don't visit the official site but once every three or four months.

6 – Do you enjoy some of the special features we provide on BGSUFalcons.com (such as Anderson Memories/Top Moments of 2009-10, etc.)?

Not really, again, BGSUFalcons.com isn't a site I use. I use AZZ or the news sites.

7 – What things have you seen/used on other college athletic websites that we should incorporate?

Live video of games.

8 – Do you purchase tickets through BGSUFalcons.com and, if so, is that process simple and easy?

No. I buy on game-day or not at all.

9 – Have you submitted a bid on an auction and, if so, was that process simple and easy?

No.

10 – Have you purchased anything through the online store (store.bgsufalcons.com) and, if so, was that process simple and easy? What products would you like to see for sale through the online store?

Living in BG proper, no reason too.

11 – Do you view/listen to the coaches’ weekly press conferences online? Are they a valuable addition to the website?

No, but an email newsletter with direct links might change that.

12 – Do you view our .pdf media guides online?

Nope.

13 – Is there information missing on BGSUFalcons.com that you have looked for in the past, or is any information difficult to find?

Donno, I tend to just Google stats or information I want. If it happens to wind-up being a link to something on BGSUFalcons.com great, but I don't go out of my way to visit the main site beyond that.

14 – What is your general feeling about BGSUFalcons.com?

From what I've seen, it is well enough run. But no community function to it, such as we have here at AZZ.

This surprises me a little bit. I would've thought every BG fan with a computer would go to BGSUFalcons.com at least a few times a week. Even though I attend most of the football and m/w hoops games (or listen on the radio if I can't go), I usually go to the web site just to read the recap and the notes. I'm not trying to judge; I was just a little surprised b/c I kind of assumed that everyone went to BGSUFalcons.com every couple days or so.

I go to the site maybe once during the summer, and that's to write down the football schedule for the next season. Then, I don't go back again until the following summer. Game recaps and game notes don't interest me much. I either see the game in person, watch it on TV, or listen to it on the radio. Then, if I want to read a discussion on the game, I come here.

Upfront let me say that BGSU's SID is absolutely excellent, and I do not intend my views on that website to be taken as reflecting any feeling about he or his staff's work.

I don't dislike the official site as such. I simply have no use for it. Just as I have no use for the local print or broadcast media. I don't watch local TV at all anymore. I don't even read the local paper unless a free copy happens into my hands.

I know the people on this forum well enough, that I can trust their recaps of any game and determine more about what happened, above anything people at the local papers, TV, or radio provide.

The "official" website really isn't much more than schedules, rosters, and stats, mixed with liberal amounts of marketing. If somebody does say something interesting, I hear about it on AZZ, then maybe I visit that site to skim over it. But even then, it is a hit-and-run look. Being a BGSU fan does not mean I have to visit that website like dipping my hand in holy-water as I enter church. Just as it does not mean I have to be mindlessly positive and never say anything negative about a coach, ex-coach, or player.

A lot of BGSU Fans live "off the grid" of official sites, programs, and monetary devotionals.

If they really wanted to do something innovative, they'd get all BGSU football, hockey, men and women's basketball games up on that site, in high quality video. I'd pay decently to watch the games live, even replays. Radio wouldn't be bad too, but not in place of video. I'd happily pay to get games online, before I'd pay to get cable TV to watch them again.

OK then. Like I said, I certainly wasn't trying to judge anyone. I just kind of assumed everyone went to that site relatively often. Obviously, I was wrong.

I too would watch the video of the games they show on there, except I'm always AT the games. I'm guessing BG doesn't have the TV/video rights for the road games, but I honestly have no idea how that works.

I do often listen to the radio broadcasts of away men's and women's hoops games through BGSUFalcons.com, but I know those are often available through other sites as well.

No harm, no foul, they want to know what we think, why we visit, or don't. And it was noted to me that they have more video on the site than I'd been aware of. Which in a round-about way gets back to the point of the feedback. If I of all people don't know about it, and not previously having made a point of visiting the site, then that points to something to look at.

I agree as well I am also a big guy and would like to see more of the mainline products of the bookstore and such available in larger sizes....Often I can only find stuff that is older or a few special items that are of bigger sizes.
