Any reason that you have Peltoma on the first and second defensive lines? Did you mean to put Shea on the second line?

I will say I bet we see a lot experimentation with the lines
I woul like to see
Solway Wojtla williason. That would be a fast line
As well as vargas jet and Sinclair
Mix in some Mcintosh
At any rate there are numerous possibilities and logic behind any of them. The key is finding winning combinations

This year is going to be a tough one, we may end up with 6 or 7 wins, but there are going to be a lot of blowout losses. Losing Kyle Page really kills our defense. Ruel probably was the most impressive freshman D, but I don't think he's a top 3 guy in the CCHA. Our goaltending should be our strength, but with a pourous defense, we won't be able to stop anyone. Offensively there just isn't much scoring. Solway needs to bounce back, because teams aren't going to allow JST to beat them.

I was hoping we would be playing the entire 2010-11 season, not just the 2010 part of the season.

I expect Ruel, and the rest of the sophmores, to really step up their games this year now that they've got a year of CCHA/Division I experience under them. Now, how much each steps up his game is yet to be determined. We have a very young team, so there are a LOT of unknowns. Part of that is what makes this upcoming year so exciting to think about. New coach (with impressive credentials), new recruits (with some impressive stats), and knowing that Falcon Hockey is here to stay brings us into this season with a lot of excitement for what this year could be the beginning of! I've always gone into every season with a lot of optimism and hope (despite more than a few reasons not to :? ). This year, that optimisim (always somewhat guarded) is more than I've felt in a long time.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

My Picks

Forwards
11 Wade Finegan (Senior)
? Mike Fink (Freshman)
6 Jerry Freismuth (Sophomore)
17 James McIntosh (Junior)
? Brett Mohler (Freshman)
13 Nathan Pageau (Sophomore)
10 Marc Rodriguez (Sophomore)
21 Jordan Samuels-Thomas (Sophomore)
20 Cameron Sinclair (Junior)
5 David Solway (Senior)
? Chad Sumison (Freshman)
22 Brennan Vargas (Junior)

Defensemen
23 Max Grover (Sophomore)
15 Andrew Krelove (Senior)
? Mike Montrose (Freshman)
2 Ryan Peltoma (Sophomore)
8 Ian Ruel (Sophomore)
25 Reed Rushing (Sophomore)
28 Robert Shea (Sophomore)
? Jacob Sloat (Freshman)

Goalies
1 Andrew Hammond (Sophomore)
31, Nick Eno (Senior)
? Scott Zacharias (Freshman)

Here's my guess on the lines:

F1: JST - Solway - Williamson
F2: Vargas - Pageau - Rodriguez
F3: McIntosh - Sinclair - Finegan
F4: Wojtala - Wallace - Freismuth

D1: Peltoma - Krelove
D2: Grover - Ruel
D3: Shea - Rushing

G: Eno - Hammond - Zacharias

I do not believe we will choose a Goalies Captain regardless if Eno deserves it.
I like JST-Sols-Williamson...alot of talent on that line....alot of speed and power mixture on the 2nd line and the 3rd and 4th line i believe are goin to be better than in years past due to these guys having experience

I wanted a chance at a "do-over" in case things didn't go well.

I hope we're able to redshirt Zacharias this year. Barring an injury (knocks on wood) he won't see much, if any, ice-time this year.

A goalie being a captain isn't an unheard of practice. Sigalet was a captain his senior year. I do wonder if they changed the rules to reflect the NHL's view though...

I don't think we'll see too many freshman playing early in the season just due to the fact there's an adjustment period for every player to "catch up" to speed of NCAA hockey.

I believe that Jordan was the only goalie to ever wear the C for the Falcons. I also know that he was named captain because of his incredible grace and maturity in the face of adversity (his diagnosis of MS during his junior year). While Jordan wasn't a locker room screaming-type captain, he led by example and experience. He was extremely well respected by his team mates, coaches and the lucky community members who had the priviledge of knowing him personally. I feel very lucky to have to known him while he was a Falcon! He is an incredible young man!
