I hope the Florida game sticks, I would love to watch that one at the Swamp.

Obviously things change a lot in today's environment vs. 5-10 years ago when these schedules seemed to hold closer to actuals, but I like Florida, particularly in two more years for Coach Clawson. Maryland and Indiana home games are nice too. Good balance in the upcoming years.
Now lets end Rich Rod's Michigan career in 2010! And get back to a bowl!

I guess Purdue hasn't had enough of losing to BG yet ...
I love the home and homes! Too bad we didn't get home and homes with WVU or Purdue. Unfortunately both of those two would probably only visit a MAC school if it were a 2 for 1 though ...

I love the looks of these future schedules! A very nice mix of games for each year so far. I really hope these games will stick.
GO BG!!!
Re: Future Football Non-Conference Schedules
I totally agree about the Florida game. I'd be a little worried about the final score, but it would be a cool experience regardless. I don't like the fact that we are playing so many FCS teams at home. One every three years is plenty, not every year.
Re: Future Football Non-Conference Schedules
I do like how we replaced OSU with West Virginia for next year. Glad we replaced OSU with a quality opponent. Rumbles from the B10 meetings is that the B10 will be playing 9 conference games next year with its realignment forcing schools to drop an ooc game. Glad we replaced now instead of waiting 6 months and then being told to find a new opponent. Although would be nice to play the potential defending National Champs. Unfortunately with the B10 going to 9 conference games and only 3 ooc games we may also lose our Purdue and Indiana games that are scheduled in the near future.

Re: Future Football Non-Conference Schedules
I think the Big 10 going to nine conference games is going to have a pretty big ripple effect.
This means that in alternating years teams will have either 5 or 4 home conference games. Currently, they have 4 and supplement those with 4 OOC games, of which they sometimes play one on the road. If they have only three non-confernece games, you can be pretty sure that they'll be playing them all at home.
In addition to teams from the MAC, et al. losing a potential pay-day game, there will be virtually no home-and-home contracts between Big 10 and other BCS conference teams ala tOSU and Texas a couple of years ago.

Re: Future Football Non-Conference Schedules
It has been mentioned on numerous sports sites that OSU, Michigan or Penn State will EACH lose over 20 million dollars by losing its one extra home game. I didn't believe that figure was correct but then I did the math. Each stadium holds approx or over 100K. At 80.00 per ticket that is over 8 million just in ticket sales. Then you add in parking, concessions and advertising I can see how it easily can be 20 million. I heard on the radio where ONE home game at OSU funds all other athletic events and pays all salaries. I bet that before they make their final plans the B10 may stick with its current 8 conference games and 4 occ. It actually makes more sense this way. You play every other team in your division for a total of 5 games, and then you play 3 cross division games. Bringing the total to 8. Next year you would play the other 3 teams. This makes more sense to me anyways.

Not one hundred percent accurate, G. The revenue from one game DOES pay the staff salaries on an annual basis, but if all games sell out OSU is well into their third game before they meet all the players salaries.gmartin wrote:I heard on the radio where ONE home game at OSU funds all other athletic events and pays all salaries.

So Tulsa is supposed to play in BG in '13...I'll believe that when I see it. They stiffed us on a home game in 1990 so I won't hold my breath. I really dislike that whole program.
