No matter when it was to be done, it is certainly needed. Those parking lots were a huge eyesore, orher than the 5-10 days per year they were being used. Lets hope we get a lot of trees and landscaping to go with the grass.

On a similar note, can someone explain why we have those UGLY gates on the newly done parking lots to the south of the stadium? The lots are nice but the gates leave much to be desired, and why they din't remove the "extra" entrance, while they were working there.

I for one am actually hoping that they start using the extra entrance...more for exiting than anything...but giving separate exits for those going East and West on Wooster.

Well if Grant is correct (and I assumed it might be the case in my first post in the thread) that there was no way to do this without missing one football season, then the timing is basically irrelevant.

I still believe it is a terrible idea to restrict overnight RV people to lot 20 though.

Regardless of what happens the tailgating will go on and we'll all find a way to make it work. I'm just ready for some good ol' tailgating food :)

Especially since we don't have a *huge* RV contingent at our tailgates. Maybe a dozen or so, tops? And the ones that have typically brought RV's (BGFan aside) have generally been well-behaved, so it's not like you need to keep them all together to keep them under control. The only real reason I could see for requiring a specific lot for overnighters is to keep the area secure, but shouldn't that be an "owner's option"?

But you're right. Once the grills are fired up, all should be forgotten. If not then, then after the beers are flowing, for sure.

One lot to rule them all, One lot to find them,
One lot to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Lot 20 where the Shadows lie.

I didn't get any cherries this year! :(

I did take a chance to drive through the parking areas this evening. Boy, you really get a feel for how much parking we're losing and how little space we'll have once you're out there. The areas that I had previously mentioned along the overpass are all part of the grass project. There isn't much space at all on the Wooster side of those lot 6 lots.

It really looks to me like the best spot to be will be the West side of Lot 20. Rick & Marta can have their RV there. There is a pretty wide grass median between the edge of the lot and alumni drive. There are trees there as well, but it looks like it would be a pretty nice area. That Lot 20 is NOT big though. Even with our somewhat limited RV presence I bet it will be full pretty easily on Friday nights, if that's where they're putting all overnight people. I can certainly pack my car up on Friday and park it there too, that's not a big deal.

Space is going to be at a premium this year, that's for sure.

Maybe Mr. Christopher will address this in "ask the AD", but with the Stroh Center taking up on-campus student spaces and all of the East stadium lots gone for football, are the Lots like 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 being utilized by students this school year? I know in years past lots like 6-1 and East stadium gravel were considered "overflow" lots for on-campus parking, but with the changes we seem to have eliminated a ton of spots and condensed them.

When we show up to tailgate on the 18th will a percentage of those spots be taken by students that live on-campus?

Not complaining, simply posing the question to get a better idea of how things will be for the season.

They are currently expanding the new lot located north of the Field House so there should be a minimal number of cars in that lot.

That lot expansion near the field house provided more student parking than the university could fill last year. I assume that the same will be true this year as well so lot six parking should, like last year, be unaffected by the student population.

Then getting there early is going to be very important!!!! I'll go over there soon and scout out the location that you recommended! It would be great if we could park in 20 and all of you guys be parked right near us!!!!

Just might require a little recon and strategery. hammb- if you head out there let us know how 6-1, 6-2, and 6-3 look- paved, grass medians etc. (Might be too much to ask for pics, but...) I'm a big fan of the grass medians. . . .

With the condensing of all the parking, and people, I sure hope they re-think their port-o-let placement. Although, with the Visitor Booth thing the females have to like the opportunity of using a cleaner toilet!
By the way Dayons, I wanted to let you know. I didn't get any pictures but that lot 6 is basically one newly paved parking lot. The divisions between 6-1, 6-2, and 6-3 are your grass islands that you like. There is also a grassy strip that separates lot 6 and lot 20.

If it were me I'd think the ideal spot is the southwest corner of lot 20. There are some trees, and a pretty nice grassy section there. Unfortunately we're not going to have nearly the grassy area that we're used to for setting up tents and whatnot, but I think it should do nicely and we'll have to adapt while they really fix up our usual lots :)

Sounds like a plan there, hammb! At least we have until 9/18 to get it figured out.

That's the area we will shoot for then!! I trust your judgement. Haven't been over there to check it out yet, but from what you've said, sounds good to me!
