Archie is my choice. The rumor in Cowtown when he left the athletic department was that he went off to head the Alumni Association to broaden his horizons as an administrator and give him cover as an "outside" inside candidate.

I could see Tressel only if they added "walks on water" to their list of desired credentials.

And Archie *is* treated like a god down there (over there? Hmm..). But Maurice Clarett was once, too.

Krebs has been mentioned on the short list for OSU AD on 1460 Sports talk and on 610 WTVN. Why would he want the job? I can think of $500,000 reasons to start with. I wish him the best if he gets the job. BG will find another good AD.

Don't think it was mentioned in this thread, but someone said something once ablout Mrs. Krebs being a integral part of the Education Dept here at BG. Well, Mrs. Krebs was my wife's academic advisor until she graduated in 2000 and has talked to her several times since then. So I mentioned the situation to my wife and she said the Krebs would move back to Columbus in a heartbeat. They loved it down there. :( Hate to admit it, but I think we will be looking for a new AD in a month or so.

I know an acquaintance of Krebs down here. We got to talking about Krebs a few months back... the guy sensed Geiger was going to retire soon and and that Krebs was really hoping to get the job.

That's why I'm so concerned.

Two-time Heisman Trophy winner, Archie Griffin, president of the OSU alumni association, said last night that he was not interested in the job.

Geiger was making $296,784.

An even more relevant section of The Blade story:
One name likely to surface is that of Paul Krebs, the athletic director at Bowling Green State University.

Mr. Krebs spent 14 years at Ohio State before becoming the Falcons' AD in 1999. He started at OSU as ticket director for athletics in 1985 and was promoted to assistant athletic director in 1987. In 1991 he was promoted to assistant athletic director for administration, then named senior associate athletic director in 1993.

The reason I think Tressel is not a candidate is because Geiger said the program needs to be cleaned up (obviously) and get a fresh start, therefore I dont think Tressel could manage both jobs at this time because he is part of the current problem...I just dont see it happening right now.

Last night on my way from work, Kenny Roda had Steve Hillwagon (sp?) from Bucknuts.com on WKNR. They were discussing Geiger stepping down and Hillwagon mentioned Archie Griffin's name but he didn't think Griffin would be interested.
The next name mentioned? Paul Krebs, AD at Bowling Green. "Paul Krebs was Geiger's right hand man for many years at OSU" is what he said.
He didn't mention any other names but said a nationwide search would take place.

Whatever happens, happens. Outta my control.
If Krebs leaves, I trust BG to find another great AD.

And I also think Krebs would take care of BGSU (his alma mater) and make some recommendations as to potential great candidates if he were to leave.

Geiger sounds like John Kerry. "The program is under control." *flip flop* "The program needs cleaned up."

Actually I see a lot of Rumsfeld and Bush in the guy.

Rumsfeld - speaks without thinking (i.e. the Clarett comments)
W - osWho has what? $200 million deficit in the Athletic Department

Oops! Don't want to get too political

my mom told me about all this around mid october. to watch krebs leave bg for an AD vacancy at osu by mid 05. she's a big osu fan because she went there, and once she explained it to me it made sense.

archie moved out of the athletic department to make room for krebs according to my mom.

She's an osu forum troll, so she oughta know what she is talking about. (although the scarlet glasses hinder her her sports iq a whole lot. (i still love her.)) Whether this will actually happen or not who knows, but so far half of the formula is in place.
