Who do you think it'll be?

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

The athletic department has teased that we might get a 2010 Final Four participant in a 2-for-1 deal starting this upcoming season, meaning they'd be playing at the Stroh Center in 2012. Who do you think it is?!

I think Butler would not be a big deal so I rule them out. West Virginia is up and down so I would be excited but not in awe about that game. Duke would be the awe game. The get tickets as early as possible game so I picked them. But Michigan State would also be a big name as well.

Regardless, if this is any result of having a new arena, that is frickin' awesome!!

My intuition tells me it will be Michigan State.

I saw them play last season at The Citadel and know that they go on the road for these types of games.

So, my money is on MSU.

Jud is still around... not sure how "out of the picture" he is anymore though. Butler makes sense... Can't see Duke coming... and WVU doesn't seem like that much of a stretch either.

Butler wouldn't be huge...they're a great program but huge? I think it will be MSU.

I'm going to say West Virginia. Perhaps GC got this deal done when the football game for next year in Morgantown was worked out.

Regardless, we're getting a quality opponent to come to BG, which is a very good thing.

I believe Jud's quote was "I won't bring a team to play at a MAC club again". So unless Jud becomes interim when Izzo goes to the Cavs his statement *could* be truthful.

I'm still putting my "money" on the Spartans and stating that Grant's above post is a smoke screen. :-)

Didnt we just play butler at home recently in a baracket buster. How big od a deal would it be to play them at home now. Is that a team we really need to do a 2 for 1 with?

I don't remember playing them in a Bracketbuster, just the NIT in '02.

And I also agree that they may not be a team that we'd HAVE to do a 2-for-1 with, but they're the "sexy" midmajor right now and it would mean two more BG games within a half-hour of my house. I'm for it! :-D

From trolling the internet, I'm pretty sure it's not Duke or West Virginia. That leaves either MSU or Butler. Hmmmm....

I'm going to say Michigan State. But I think Butler is still showing 2 open home games on their schedule for this year, so it's possible that we could be one of those.

I have a feeling it's Butler as well. Just don't see MSU coming here. Will believe it when I see it on the schedule.

BGSU Announces Men’s Basketball Schedule

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball program announced the 2010-11 schedule today. The Falcons will play 15 non-conference games along with a full slate of 16 Mid-American Conference contests.

Bowling Green’s non-conference schedule is highlighted by a game at Michigan State, a Final Four participant a year ago. The Falcons will play six non-conference home games, hosting Ohio Dominican in the home opener, prior to contests with Duquesne, Western Kentucky, Florida International, Manhattan, and Texas San Antonio.

The Falcons will play in the Legends Classic, playing at Michigan and then competing in three games over Thanksgiving Weekend at the University of Detroit. BGSU will open the season at Howard and play road games at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and St. Louis, along with the annual BracketBusters game.

“We’re excited about the 31 game schedule,” Bowling Green head coach Louis Orr said. “Our non-conference games will give us opportunities to grow and compete at a high level and help prepare us for the MAC season. The season is a marathon and we need to grind out one game at a time.”

The 2010-11 season is the final year in Anderson Arena as Bowling Green will move into the new Stroh Center the following season. The Athletics Department is holding a year-long celebration of the arena called “Closing The Doors Of The House That Roars”.

Florida International will return to Anderson Arena for the second consecutive year in a newly signed home-and-home series, bringing head coach Isiah Thomas back to The House That Roars. The road games at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and St. Louis will be return games following home games a year ago. The game at Howard will be the first of a home-and-home in which the Bison will serve as the first men’s basketball opponent in the Stroh Center in 2011. The Michigan State games serves as the first in a three-year set with the Falcons in which the Spartans will play in the Stroh Center during the 2012-13 season.

Bowling Green will open MAC play on Jan. 8 at Buffalo and the MAC home opener will take place Jan. 16 when BGSU hosts Miami. The final regular season home game in Anderson Arena will take place either March 4 or 5 when the Falcons host Buffalo. The date and time of that contest will not be known until mid-February as part of the MAC’s television contract.
