Easier said than done with all of the parking laws in the city. Almost every street near campus does not allow parking, probably intentionally.

I got my response. Apparently, I can park in any lot not being used for move-in, even if it's a faculty lot, for tomorrow only.

They have gone completely insane!

I just came from campus. There is no way that they are ready for classes to start next week. Half the campus is either being torn down our built up. You can't cross ridge street at any point from the start of the Wolfe center to Hayes hall. Parking will be a nightmare. The lot on the northwest corner is now a future residence hall. Lot 6 is the future Stroh center. The faculty lot by Anderson Arena is currently closed/inaccessible (which might be fixed soon...might). There are sidewalks missing everywhere. The list goes on and on. It is a nightmare.

I am glad that I am done with college...at least for a while. I would not want to be doing a mission impossible drill every time I had to get from one class to the next.

Subject: Ridge St., Willard, lots now open

We are happy to announce that Ridge Street, from behind Hayes Hall to
Mercer Road, and Willard Drive, from Ridge to Poe Road, are now open
and ready for use.

Also, Lots N and 14, O and Bowen-Thompson Student Union North (east of
Overman Hall) now open for parking.

For move-in (Aug. 20 and 21), the entire length of Ridge Street will
be open, as will the lane between Jerome Library and the Fine Arts
Center, connecting to Lots N and 14.

Beginning next week, the portion of Ridge from Willard to Mercer will
be closed for the completion of construction on Ridge. Drivers needing
access to the above lots may use Willard.

Also next week, waterline work will begin between the library and the
Fine Arts Center. That lane will then be permanently closed to all
but emergency vehicles.

At the same time, landscaping will commence at the intersection of
Willard and Ridge and along Ridge.

Pedestrians will not be able to cross Ridge Street between Willard and
Mercer in the construction zone. They may cross at the pedestrian
crosswalk at Mercer and Ridge or anywhere along Ridge west of the
construction zone. Please plan your walking routes accordingly.

All construction zones will be fenced. Please do not trespass, as it
is not only dangerous, but illegal! All are reminded to exercise
caution along Ridge Street as we complete the improvements

footballguy51 wrote:I totally agree. Parking will be a nightmare this coming semester. Go to the BGSU parking map to see what they have done as far as updates. The only issue is that some of the lots they have listed are not open yet due to construction. To make matters worse, I have an exam I have to take 1:00-5:00 tomorrow afternoon, and I got an email from BGSU parking & traffic stating lot closures for move-in. Essentially every parking lot remotely close to campus will be closed for move-in. I am waiting on an email reply to my parking question, "Where should I park?"
I debated about saying 'Suck it up! Use that BGSU degree of yours and think about where you can park" but then I thought you were joking. I didn't realize you were serious.

There is a commuter lot that is never used available west of McDonald. Keeping on that side of town will keep you away from those moving in. If you don't have a parking pass you can park near Pollyeye's.

I understand the concern over move-in as it's never fun no matter how much parking is available, but I really get sick and tired about hearing parking complaints for nearly every other reason. Every college or university has the same damn complaints about it. So many students want to drive their car to class and park beside the building like it's a fast food restaurant or something. Some live a block or two from campus and they still want to drive. Give me a damn break. Walk to class and stop bitching. It's college. Enjoy the fresh air. If you want a campus made out of cement and parking lots, go to some inner-city school. I wish we'd remove all our inner-campus lots to be honest. Yes I know it gets cold and windy in the winter, yes I know it rains sometimes. Boo hoo! And the kicker of it all is, many of the ones complaining about having to walk sure could use the exercise. Yes, I said it. I totally agree with a former president of ours in that we don't have a parking problem, we have a walking problem. As does just about every other school.

With the construction, that lot has now become a faculty parking lot. The faculty lot that was in there is now being used by the construction company.

You know, when people told me, I never really believed it until about a year ago. There are quite a few more people other than Tek trolling this message board looking for the opportunity to be a jerk.

I didn't say I wouldn't figure it out, I said that it would be a nightmare. I still say it will be a nightmare, and I'm glad I don't have to worry about it. It is a little hard to complain when the situation doesn't affect you, which it doesn't affect me. I was simply making an observation, which is that I wouldn't want to be a student there right now. If you think it will be a good time, then more power to you.

I understand that the construction is for the betterment of the campus. However, for the time being, it will be a pain in the butt. I'm far from the only person who thinks that will be a pain in the butt. Every person I've talked to that works on campus has been dreading this weekend when the students come back.

And for the record, I have two degrees from BGSU.

And yet another new building being built on campus. This one I heard talks about but didn't know it was actually underway:
