NHL TEAMS

Post by ktrain »

This is not related to BG but who are some of our posters favorite NHL teams. It would be interesting to have some people to talk NHL hockey with from time to time.

There, it's BG-related. :-D

Also like the CBJ.

As a kid in the mid-90's for reasons I have long forgotten now, and with no "local" team to root for, I decided the Chicago Blackhawks were my favorite NHL team. Then, for a long time, I didn't really follow hockey at all. About four years ago, I started paying more attention to BG's team, and then the following year (so, three years ago) when my brother dated a girl who was a huge hockey fan, it got most of us in my family interested again and to start paying more attention. Strangely enough, it was just as the team I long decided was my favorite was starting to do well again, so it's been fun rediscovering this team just as they got hot. I was aware of them not being so great for most of my life, but still declared them my favorite team, and then just as I start to actually pay closer attention, they turn into a really good team. Suppose I can't complain about that. But, someday things will cycle down again and I'll still be here to root for them.

I only follow the NHL to keep track of BG guys. If I had to pick a favorite NHL team right now, I'd have to say Pittsburgh.

DITTO!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Spending some time growing up in Detroit and watching my first NHL game with seeing both Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio on the ice (ok, I'm old), the Red Wings are my favorite team. It was tough during the '70's, but I hung with them!

Anaheim

The Ducks had their AHL team in Cincy from 97 to 05, which is when I started getting more and more into hockey. It was so cool to see so many guys I got to see play in Cincy, especially during the NHL lockout year of 04/05, win the Cup just two seasons later.

And to make it BG related :-D

Since I moved here from Ireland in 1985 and learned the game of hockey I have been a Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes fan. Lived near Hartford when I first came here.

I'm a relatively young hockey fan as I've only followed the sport since 2000. But, after watching one CBJ game I was hooked. Yes, I'm well aware they suck out loud but there will always be a sentimental attachment.

Another fan of the Blue Jackets here. While I'm certainly not the worlds biggest NHL fan, I do enjoy watching. It's of course made even better when there are former Falcons on the ice. On that note, I'd really like to see more Falcons on the big rinks of the NHL

Derek Whitmore will be given a legit shot at cracking the Sabres lineup this year. His preseason will be interesting to watch.

Penguins here.
Used to follow the Whalers, too.

Haven't followed it as closely in the last couple of years.... although I did manage to catch the Pens winning the Cup in game 7 while I was in Oz last year. Was live... it was morning and I was getting ready to go out for the day. Ended up leaving an hour later than I'd intended :)
