Tough loss...Way too many penalties (13). Still can't believe we were a 14 pt dog...

Just heard Akron lost at home to Syracuse tonight, 29-3.

Get after Tulsa.

I think it's a reference to Geter at 5'7".

I know they're young but the tackling must get better. Good football teams must be able to tackle well and execute defensively. Too many hits up high, and too many guys just trying to throw a body into someone. It was severely frustrating as this has been an on-going problem for multiple years in the program.

Some questionable playcalling, especially near and in the red zone. Special teams were iffy, the missed FG was tough but the punt returns, and the returns in general were very good. Geter had a good game and Schilz was very cool and collected, made very good decisions.

Blaec Walker had 5 false starts, 1 hold and was burnt numerous times. I hate to pick out one guy, but he needs to get his act together as playing LT, he's arguably the most important lineman.

Not all is lost. Coach needs to hammer home tackling this week, and dedicate lots of time towards it. Things can be fixed and overall I came away impressed, with some time and work BG can compete in the MAC this year.

When it's (blank) and goal and you want to run the ball we need to get a bigger back in there. I love Willie but we need a guy who can truck.

Sorry, but we don't have Bennie Wells on the roster. Clawson is hoping the line can open just enough of a hole to let Geter squirt through. I don't think lining up and banging at Troy's front seven would have been the strategy either. Our O-line was getting manhandled by their D-line most of the night. I thought this Troy defensive line was way better than last year's version...and those guys supposedly went to the NFL.

The play calling I would have changed was the periods in the second quarter and again in the second half when we had Schilz dropping straight back in the pocket. Obviously, our line couldn't hold a pocket togethe for him to work. When we did have some offensive success, it was when ew rolled the pcoket put and bought Schilz ssome time. Or, when we called some mis-direction plays going against the hard charging line from Troy...or play action to hold the line from laying their ears back and comign aafter the QB. Not sure why we went away from the shotgun and started put Schilz under center? That didn't seem to work for us.

As far as the play calling in the red zone, I didn't have a problem with it. I am sure if Clawson had Sheehan and Barnes we would have seen some other play calls. But he didn't want to put the freshman in the position to make some errors on the road in his first game.

As far as the tackling, not sure why we let their running back (no. 20) push us all over the field. He had to be no more than 185 pounds. He should not have been dragging our tacklers 5 yards after we made initial contact. Not sure why one of our guys didn't tackle the legs of these runners? Arm tackles didn't do the job and we sure didn't finish tackles. Its sickening to see so many yards gained after we had made contact with the runner. Just awful!

Its not even that hot.
They said it is humid down there and they thought it would be a factor against us.
This was coolest evening in Alabama since June probably. Troy had no issues with cramping.
