After two games, I am not surprised or disappointed. We had a chance to win at Troy and fell short. I knew just playing respectable at Tulsa was the most we could really ask for.
This team is young in a lot of positions...QB, offensive line, tight end, defensive line, defensive backs, special teams. PLus, two deep roster is loaded with first year players.
I like Clawson's approach to rebuilding and mixing in some freshman...both the true and redshirt variety. I really think he's found his quarterback for the next four years. The key will be adding and dveloping talent around him the next few years so when he's a junior and senior we are in a position to make some noise and a run for the MAC title. And of course, maybe the most important factor, need to at least be able to field a defense that can keep us in games.
I see the Marshall game as a toss up that could go either way. I'll be in the Big House the following week and don't see any way we can avoid a beating there.

Re: Glass Half Full
The best part is, neither one of these games were in the MAC. That is huge. Temple nearly got beat in its MAC opener and Ohio did lose its. Those two were both picked at the top of the East. As for BG, we had chances in both of our games, so it's good to seeus competing. We let one slip away at Troy (up 17-7 also also let chances slip away on our last two drives when tied at 27-27), but I think we really need to come away with this one against Marshall up next, or we could very well be looking a an 0-4 start to the season. I'm not saying it's a "must-win," because really, those only apply in the MAC IMO. But after two tough losses, coupled with the way last season ended with the hearbreaker to Idaho in the bowl, I think it would be a big boost for our guys to come out on top for once and I feel we have a much better shot at that against Marshall over Michigan.
GO BG!!!
Re: Glass Half Full
BGSU will surely have its chance here. The team is clearly fighting hard, if still young and being polished. You get the feeling that the program is being well managed and not sold-out for a quick bounce. I like that. As much as we talked in the other thread about how the league is suffering right now, maybe we could be near the start of a new cycle of more modestly successful coaches, building better foundations, not trying to express-ticket themselves out of the MAC. (Like, maybe, Timbo up in T town.)

Bowling Green Football has a lot to look forward to. Like everyone else has stated, we have a QB that looks good and our team is fighting hard and looks like they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. I think we will do pretty well in the conference this year. Outside of that I just hope we can beat Marshall just for the sake that its marshall. I am going to thef game with my wife and 2 herd fans. My professor who is an alum of Ohio and from WV has always been a Herd fan and the other one is alum of Marshall. This should be fun.........yay!!!!
