Hey Bowling Green Falcon Radio Network guys.....

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Who do we complain to about the horrendous radio coverage of BG hoops???

I live in Elmore... Elmore is roughly 22 miles from BG. All I could get last night was a sometimes audible 107.7. I can pull in 99.1 from Fremont crystal clear, but they didn't have the game on. Should I complain to them?

How can we have such big improvements in the football radio network, and yet I can't listen to a basketball game w/o driving 20 miles south? And according to Hammb, that might not solve the problem either?!?!

What can we do to help change this situation??

I could not get the game in my house either on FM 107 or AM 1230. So I decided to get in the car and drive around and was on my way to Meijer's and noticed the game was on my Satellite Radio, channel 126, in my car. Are all BG games on Satelitte Radio????? If so, I will just open the door to my garage, play the game from my car and pump up the volume.

WCWA (AM 1230) doesn't reach Elmore? That signal is weaker than I thought.

Well, since you guys couldn't hear the game, you missed that Todd Walker mentioned that the MAC and Sirrius signed a deal to broadcast some MAC basketball games. Last night's game was one of the games picked to be on Sirrius. Thought that was pretty cool. 8)

FWIW, I have issues in BG as well catching the signal sometimes. It all depends on which radio I use. :?

Well I got an idea. Instead of using radio's, lets just drive to every game. The only thing that kept me from the game last night was a three letter word. ICE

The only thing that kept me from driving to Huntington, WV was that I had to be here at work today. Driving to every road game isn't really practical. I'd love to be able to do it, but there are too many far-away games on week-nights. :-(

Grant,

Can you get the campus station 88.1 at home? If not, Bowling Green Radio Sports broadcasts everything from http://bgrso.org/tunein.htm.

Or you can do like I do and subscribe to College Sports Pass at bgsufalcons.com. Not free, I know, but it's the best I can do three hours away.

Chris,
When you say everything, does that include Women's, Men's hoops and hockey?

I've had major problems getting my sports pass to work the last few games I've tried to listen. Never had any problems before but lately it has been a bear. And their tech support has been non existent.

If I can listen to WBGU, I'll do it!

Like I said in my post in the other thread, I can get 1230 in, but it is staticky at times. It's the only one I can get with any amount of success though. I thought maybe it was just me or my house that was preventing my signal, until I start to see other people struggling as well. I really don't think we should have to have an arial FM antenna to pick up BG basketball games from 2 miles outside of town, but maybe I'm wrong?

Like I said, I get 107.7 just fine in my truck in BG, but in the house its unbearable.

Warthog, which station do you listen on?

I don't really want to complain too much, because I was able to listen on 1230, but its not exactly a crystal clear signal either.

I believe BGRSO broadcasts Mens and Womens hoops, as well as hockey. When I went there (not so many years ago), they did all home and away games. I belive they still do. All the games are carried on 88.1 WBGU unless they conflict with another (rare) and then they are on WFAL (the campus AM station). I *believe* that all WBGU games are broadcast online from that URL I posted. However, I just went there and got just static. Unsure if WBGU broadcasts all the time online or just during games.

I have used WBGU's online streaming during football season, haven't tried it lately. Of course, College Sports Pass has been working fine for me.

HTH,

This is really interesting. I live on the West side of BG, and 107.7 comes in beautifully in the house.

Having said that, this has always been one of the problems with our fabulous Clear Channel network. It was worse when WCWA was the only option.
