Sounds like Schilz is going to be out for an unknown amount of time, hopefully sooner rather than later:

Nope. It's either Pankratz or Hurley.

From todays Blade:

Sounds to me like they're still trying to figure out how long Schilz will be out. If it's going to go into MAC season I bet they go with Hurley. If it's just one game, they'll probably throw Pankratz to the Wolv[erin]es.

Reading between the lines of his comments it really sounds like they feel Hurley is the better player now, but they don't want to take off his redshirt if Schilz is going to be back soon. Like I said earlier, I'd just play the best player and let the redshirts and stuff work themselves out. You can always redshirt Hurley next year, if he is again tabbed as Schilz's backup.

I agree as well, this is exactly what I took from it too. Also, not a bad idea about RS Hurley next year if possible. I just hope Schilz is back soon, like for Buffalo, and that we get through this week and everything else just works itself out.

I just really want to know because I am contemplating going to the game and really don't think we have the slightest chance with Pankratz at the helm. I think a total unknown might catch them off guard...especially if Hurley has the tools they say he does.

What's really odd is that the starting QB's from the 2 football teams I closely follow (Detroit Lions and BGSU) are out with identical injuries.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Does anyone know the severity of his injury? From what I understood, there are certain "grades" of how bad it is. Also, I know what Scott Lewis' injury was, but what exactly happened to Ben Bojicic? I know he got hurt at Tulsa but I never heard exactly what he did.

You guys underestimate pankratz a little to much. I think if given the chance he would be one hell of a qb
At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate..

I agree. He came in and did well against Marshall. The interception was simply an under thrown pass due to nerves of being thrown in there, but after that I think he stood pretty tall...which also leads me into pointing out the fact that he is a 6'6 quarterback with a strong arm. I think Schilz is far superior but I don't think Pankratz is by any means a bad backup. Save Hurley's redshirt this year.

Pankratz should do fine. I worry about about the chemistry developed between Schilz and all the receivers being out of whack now that a different QB is in, but that would be the case whether Pankratz, Pagel, Hurley, or FalconFreak were in at QB.

Did Pankratz throw toward Jorden at all once Schilz went down against Marshall? Refresh my memory please. Because the chemistry between whoever is taking snaps and Jorden is a must this weekend.

Pankratz threw to Jorden twice. Once on the first drive of the fourth (incomplete) and once on the second drive (6-yard completion) after Marshall fumbled the KO.

It could be the perfect opportunity to work in a few different QBs...we are pretty stocked with talented players there.

Ben out 3-5 more weeks is a big blow but Nick T is doing well at Center. We need to get Scott Lewis back soon as well so we have some depth at OL. Kinda thin right now...
