I don't remeber the commercials, old man, but my wife wondered why I laughed out loud and grabbed the camera when we passed a Lawson's.SB-50 wrote:Speaking of home, I was surprised to see Lawson stores in Tokyo. "Scuze me while I kiss this guy" moment there, SB- the juice was coming from FLORIDA_ can't get there in an hour. The jingle was "Roll on Big O, get that juice up to Lawson's in forty hours." Gotta give the guy drive time and an overnight at the Motel Six.

Re: Yesterday
OK, so he doesn't spend the night- here's the whole jingle- and this has meaning to me because Lawson's was a sponsor of UT hoops games and I first saw this, I'm pretty sure, when UT played a SPencer Haywood led Detroit team and Haywood took a punch at the referee. They then cut away to the "Big O" song while everybody sorted everything out.
Roll on, Big O. Get that juice up to Lawson's in 40 hours.
Well, the oranges ripen in the Florida sun. Sweet on the tree they stay.
Then they pick 'em and they squeeze 'em just as quick as you please.
And the Big O leaves the same day.
Roll on, Big O. Get that juice up to Lawson's in 40 hours.
Well, one man sleeps while the other man drives on the nonstop Lawson's run.
And the cold, cold juice* in that tank truck caboose stays as fresh as the Florida sun.
Roll on, Big O. Get that juice up to Lawson's in 40 hours.

Very Nice!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I guess I should start playing Soduko to stimulate the few good cells I have left.

Sudoku (数独 lit-"numbers alone") =)
Yea, likewise, most Japanese are surprised when they see 7-11 in America, because they have always thought it was a Japanese store. (It is now, ofc, as 7&i holdings, a Japanese company, purchased them.) My mom was really surprised when she saw Lawson as well. She said it was her first part time Job.

Numbers alone?! - very interesting, thanks.
The Lawson jingle has been in my head since yesterday. So you can share my pain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7r6A6YQdtI
While searching for that, I also came across Sohio ("you go or Sohio pays the tow"), Burger Chef (&Jeff), Gold Circle Appliances & Rinks. If you grew up (or were already grown) in Ohio in the 60s & 70s, these really take you back.
PRICELESS!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
