Re: The Official Tour de France Thread
Contador failed another drug test. This time he tested positive for a chemical found in IV bags. You have to have 8 times the normal level of this chemical to test positive.
I don't see any possible explanation other than blood doping...

Yeah, just read the full AP article on this.
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... =D9ILLR380
The sample in question here was taken on July 20th, the sample with the clenbutrol was taken on the 21st, which was a rest day, and then there was a significant mountain stage on the 22nd. The timing, plus the levels detected look pretty bad. I'm trying not to put the cart before the horse, but no matter which way you interpret it, this looks really bad.

Why not just say f*** it and let people take whatever they want? It's obvious no one's clean so just take away the tests.

I'm about there with you, Drew. Let them ruin themselves long term for short term gain if that's what they want. Pro bodybuilders don't pretend they get their physique strictly from hard work and there's not handwringing by the folks who run shows if somebody gets in trouble for using. I love the Tour but the intrigue over who's doping is almost more of a story- I'm inclined to think everyone is.BGDrew wrote:Why not just say f*** it and let people take whatever they want? Re: The Official Tour de France Thread
The Wieders tried running clean shows in the past...like 1990 or so. Vince McMahon tried it to with his group. The competitors looked smaller and flatter than they did before ad the fans rebelled. When I was a kid, people wanted to look like Frank Zane or Arnold...big guys by normal standars, but not bizarre freaks.
Does anyone in their right mind want to look like Jay Cutler (current Mr Olympia)

Personally...I'm mostly a drugs and gun Libertarian, so I don't care if Arod, Cutler or Contador drug themslevesinto a stroke by the time they're 40. That's their call....

Re: The Official Tour de France Thread
I read recently that Zane competed at about 185- he personified what body builders should look like to me- more of a Sandow, perfect form thing than freakazoid hugeness like Cutler, Haney or Yates. Still-I'm even heavier than that- hard to believe things have gotten so out of hand but I'm with you to some extent-You wanna be great for a few years and stroke out early go ahead, hope it was worth it.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
