okay, i gotta ask...

Post by 1boisebro »

hello my fine feathered friends. boise state fan here.

as you probably know, we're playing your bestest buddies this weekend, the toledo rockets. in doing a little research on them, i found this little gem:

In 1961, the University of Toledo procured a genuine rocket from the U.S. Army missile program. The one-ton rocket, which sits outside the Glass Bowl — aimed to hit the 50 yard line of arch-rival Bowling Green's Doyt Perry stadium — carries two sets of fins and a propellant booster capable of guiding the missile to supersonic velocity.

i knew your rivalry was intense, but that's pretty wild.

so, do you guys have an anti-rocket icon?

also, what can we expect from toledo this weekend? should we be nervous?

No anti-rocket system needed. Their rocket, like their football program, is pretty impotent. It's really more of a scud ;)

And no, you should not be nervous.

You mean the QB that likely just lost his starting spot?

It's a heat seeking missile. If that thing is ever released, the Toledo mayors office will be annihilated.

You won't need luck, 1boisebro, but best to you and my second favorite team.

Pretty sure that where it is aimed at, is not the 50 yard line of the stadium. From what I have heard, it is far, far away from hitting its target. Sort of like their QB.

Toledo has a few decent pieces, but seems to have a hard time putting it together consistently. If Austin Danten is starting at QB, you guys will win easily!

Good luck from 4 more Boise fans here in Ohio! After BG, we always root for Boise State!

Though as Tom just mentioned that QB has lost his starting spot, plus he said that after his offense scored zero points vs Arizona

Actually Dantin is likely to start last I heard. Played well as a frosh but with O-line troubles he has not been very accurate and at times has been running for his life. RS Frosh Owens will almost certainly see time as well- Dantin seems to be the better runner, Owens has the stronger arm. Neither has been accurate and starting NFL wideout Stephen Williams' departure left us with basically one receiver so defenses cheat against the run and we have no answer. But we have added fuel to the rocket and changed the trajectory. Loaded up a payload of green paint and now are aiming it at Boise's Field- we figure you guys forget how to play on green turf!

well, this is only our second home game of the season.

and i like the broncos record on green turf, too.

as long as the rockets don't cheat and wear blue unis, we could be okay. \:D/

Toledo doesn't need a rocket to do any damage. They could use Toledo Tom as a "scorched earth" weapon. He can come to your city and eat everything in sight, causing everyone else to starve.

Well, I guess we'll point the Rocket back at BG then. Doubt we'll want to wear blue- we're 0-2 in blue this year and 3-0 in white. Also undefeated on the road-I'm hoping those are good signs but realistically I'm worried that Boise may be able to keep it close at home. Good luck to the Broncs whatever the outcome.
