New placekicker this week

I saw the Burkhardt kid nail two 40+ yard FGs vs BGHS last season. I honestly thought he would have had a shot at a scholarship from a BCS school. Interesting that neither of the scholarship kickers are even in the mix to take over.

I saw the Burkhart kid 2-3 times last year in HS also, and had similar thoughts. I thought he would walk in and take the PK job.

So we have two scholarship kickers that aren't good enough to be even the third best kicker on the roster? What a waste of scholarships.

About 3 weeks too late for me, but I hope he does well.

Man, I keep thinking how BG should have gotten Matt Rinehart from Dover two years ago. He made a visit to BG his SR year and fell in love with the Sebo Center and campus. However, we did not offer him...we offered Jerry Phillips instead. Rinehart is now a JR at Kent State and was All MAC last yr as a punter. He regularly put his KO's in the end zone at Dover HS. You'll get a good look at him Sat.

Whoever the new place kicker is, best of luck. We need consistency there!! Wright has done a fine job punting and kicking off.

I wonder if Carle even bothered to ask why the two kickers on scholarship weren't in the mix...It seems like the kind of information thatwould really provide some depth to the central theme of the story (BGSU's kicking game is a fricking mess)

I believe Burkharts mother might work on campus, which might have something to do with him walking on and the scholarship $$$. Of course, if he wins the job, that could all change.

Nope. It is his AUNT ('sgtrock' on this board) and she is currently on TDY.

He is paying his own way because he wanted to be a FALCON!

I'm a little suprised it took so long to make this move. Obviously, I don't have any insight to how the guys perform in practice, but you would think we'd have done this a while ago. Also, I'm sure the kid wanted to come to BG and all, but my guess is that he didn't turn down a full scholarship anywhere else to walk on here.
