From a Tom Gaffney article in the Beacon Journal:
A question to ponder: Is the MAC is imposing a cooling off period for the Zips and Bowling Green? They will not play this season or next season, as part of a two-year schedule rotation.
It is generally agreed that Bowling Green reported recruiting violations by the Zips that led to UA recruiting co-ordinator Reno Ferri being suspended and then leaving the program.

If this is true, it's certainly news to me...I've never heard that BG was "involved" in any way, but rememer that Akron had a problem last year. In fact, a kid from my old HS, (Cuy.Hts.) is on a "delayed" entry to AU...don't know if this is part of the problem or not.

Re: BG-Akron
Every two year cycle, there will be two sets of MAC East teams that do not play each other. The last two years, it had been BG-Temple and Akron-Miami. I did think it very odd that two of the teams this and next year were BG and Akron. I assumed it was randomized, but maybe there is a reason for it. Totally not sure.
