Jonathan Matsumoto

Post by falcons86 »

Cookie and I watched the Philly/Carolina game last night. Jonathan looked good. He didn't look out of place and had one very good scoring chance. He is wearing #18 for the Hurricanes. Carolina ended up losing to the Flyers 3-2.

Yes I watched too, thanks to NHL Center Ice plus I am a "Canes fan. Thought Mats did a great job and really looked like he belonged. He has def. hit the weight room since his days here. Great job Mats. Now I need to buy a #18 "Canes jersey but I bet Cookie will beat me to it!! : )

This from carolinahurricanes.com today

"Regarding Matsumoto, who was recalled on Sunday, Rutherford said that he could receive a longer look with the Hurricanes as long as Patrick Dywer, who has been impressive this season, stays on one of the top three lines as a wing."

Read that this morning. Go Dwyer! :-D

Would be great for Jonathan to get a chance to play a few weeks at least and get settled in to the speed of the NHL before anyone makes a rash decision. Go Canes! Go Jonathan!

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

And he gets sent right back down to AHL. Bummer. Thought he played well in a 4-0 road win for the Hurricanes over the Sens last night.

It was an "emergency" call up.
