Game Thread: #11 Notre Dame vs. Bowling Green
Re: Game Thread: #11 Notre Dame vs. Bowling Green
Just some random thoughts as I wait for the video to finish:
- Very happy to see the Olympic banners back up. I'm sure the timing wasn't intentional at all.
- How about that crowd tonight? Most raucous I've seen our student section in a couple years. Loved seeing Bergeron give them a round of applause after the game.
- If you didn't have a chance to see Nick play tonight you missed one of the best performances ever seen by a goalie. The stick save he made sliding across the crease in the third? Unreal.
- Blake and Emerson were both in the house tonight. Also saw Dr. Vivian and a few other notables. They picked a good weekend for the alumni to come back.
- If I were a betting man I'd bet the house on some kind of announcement tomorrow.

Psst. You were wrong.Drago wrote:I don't think either game will be real close. Notre Dame is out for revenge with the entire conference and is already scoring at a high pace. That combo with our non existent power play doesn't bode well for the Falcons. Maybe the goalies can steal a game, but this will be a tough task.
GREAT WIN BG!!!

Hey, got to defend drago here on this one. We lost to a 15th ranked team, twice. This team is developing and to have just expected to win would have been a stretch, esp against a 11th Nationally, and honestly more power full than that in my opion as they are 2nd in the ccha.
I think now after this, we are recreating, honestly recreating what made our rink a hard place for other teams to come in to. The team has home pride, the fans have team pride. The enthusiasm and momentum are building, but we still have to be careful not to let it get the better of us and make us out to be something we have not yet earned.
great game

I was just messing with him. The win is an upset, for sure, and I bet Drago is gladly ordering a second plate of crow about now.

I do think Drago was right that one of our goalies stole a win - a hard earned win by the team, but by the sound of things Eno was standing on his head in net. Great win. Great to hear about the crowd! GO BG!
Re: Game Thread: #11 Notre Dame vs. Bowling Green
I am not a great hockey fan, but that game tonight was one of the most entertaining games I have been to in 10-15 years! Our kids worked their butts off every minute of that game. The crowd was just as good as the hockey team.

Here's the postgame video:
The money quote from Eno is right around 4:45. Also, I posted my recap over at http://bgsuhockey.wordpress.com/blog
And here's the scores around the CCHA. How underrated is Ferris State right now? Also, Alaska may be the team to beat this year:
Miami 2
at Ferris State 3
Michigan 0
at Alaska 3
Northern Michigan 4
at Lake Superior 1
Michigan State 3
at Western Michigan 4
Alabama-Huntsville 2
at Ohio State 6

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Game Thread: #11 Notre Dame vs. Bowling Green
I will give alot of credit to our team tonight not just one person in the fact that we took it at Notre Dame...regardless of their rank, talent level, or anything we went out and pressed em and didnt try to sit back and just avoid mistakes....we forced them into timely turnovers that led to some great goals and we didnt let them just sit down and develop a routine in our zone.....
With that being said obviously there are a few performances that stand out.
Eno hell of a game kid, especially with how rough a start he has had this year. Unbelievable performance in net.
All 4 Forward Lines - heck of a forecheck and way to make Notre Dame get antsy with the puck in there own zone, we fought and battled in every loose puck situation.
All 3 D Lines - Tremendous effort as well, sticks in lanes, killing off the unbelievable amount of penalties we were charged with, and a fantastic job of not letting people bear down on Eno in the crease.
Large respect to the student section last night it was amazing to see the crowd really dig into a game here and i think that passion drives our players to want to compete for these fans.....also wonderful gesture by Bergeron appluading the fans at the end....he knows coming from Miami how important a strong student following is.
Sweep em boys!

Thoroughly impressed with the effort guys are giving and the product that is being shown to falcon fans. I had goose bumps in the 3rd period with the noise level, fans on their feet, the students section doing the wave, awesome night to be at the rink. Brought back memories of when I was a kid and attended games in the 80s and fans were 6 deep lined up on the glass because their were no seats.
Fill the house tonight falcon fans, give the same effort tonight players and we will be in for another exciting night.
It's Coming............It's Coming......................
THE RETURN TO GLORY IS COMING................

What's with the Bowling Green live stats? Yesterday it didn't display stats and tonight it's showing Michigan vs. Alaska.
Re: Game Thread: #11 Notre Dame vs. Bowling Green
2-1 after the first. Goals by Ruel and Solway. For those who are listening at home how cool was it to hear Doc Emrick call that first period with Everett?
