Free hot chocolate
Free hot chocolate
I was in one of the rows that won free hot chocolate last night. No one from the athletic department visited my row with a coupon. Went to concession stand and said I was a winner. They said they didn't know anything about it. Great promotion. But, hey, they organize did the spelling out of ESPN on the fully packed east side. It's a wonder anyone shows up to these games.

Somebody better get a handle on the game day operations at the Doyt or we will continue to lose paying customers.BGorDeath wrote:I was in one of the rows that won free hot chocolate last night. - Ref mic that hasn't worked properly for YEARS
- Screaming chick who has no clue how to end a sentence without trailing off in a sliding whine.
- PA way too loud
- $2.50 for a regular sized bag of peanut M&M's (In fact the poor workers actually said the price wasn't their fault before they even told me the cost..LOL)

Re: Free hot chocolate
Both of the rows they called out were in the student section. Since students don't have tickets, and thus no way to prove where they sit, this made zero sense. I was in section 17, row 22 when they called out that row. The funny thing is that there were vendors coming up the stairs with trays of hot chocolate already. They asked if we wanted any hot chocolate, and I asked my wife if she had any money. The vendor girls said it was free, so we gladly accepted. They were passing out hot chocolate to anybody that was in the area. Then they announced free hot chocolate, and I thought I was getting more.BGorDeath wrote:I was in one of the rows that won free hot chocolate last night. As for the PA lady, you could hear her over the ESPN broadcast. I was proctoring an exam which ended at 9:00, so I was watching the game on a laptop until I could come over. If you think she is annoying at the game, try hearing her on TV. She was so loud and obnoxious that she cut through the ESPN announcers, and they even managed to catch her screwing up the BG-SU cheer, AGAIN! She shouted, "BG", and the crowd replied "SU", then she says SU" and nobody said anything. Then, she did it again. You could hear people booing her after the second time through. If an ESPN broadcast can pick-up that the fans hate what she's doing, you would think the athletic department would find her a different job.

Yep, I watched it last night after I got home.footballguy51 wrote:As for the PA lady, you could hear her over the ESPN broadcast. And are you listening Mr. Christopher:
IT IS A TOTAL EMBARRASSMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY AND ITS FANS!
And it's not just me. Everyone around me was commenting on the fact that it was too damned loud...as well as laughing at the ineptness of the chant.

Re: Free hot chocolate
The chant was embarrassing and I wish they would have given her mic to the on field ref.
Re: Free hot chocolate
Yup. I heard it on TV and immediately grabbed another beer. That was pitiful. You have one job when starting that chant. Yell two letters - BG! Where's Sue when we need her? Have her start that cheer up and she doesn't even need a mic!
The idea of an on field announcer should never be tried again, ever, and I certainly hope she and / or anyone else involved with the decision to put her out on the field to try to pump up the crowd is reading this right now.

Yep...strap them to a chair in the middle of the Doyt in late November with the winds howling and that chick screaming on the PA and we will have OBL in custody in no time!Falconfreak90 wrote:The US Intelligence office could use her to extract info outta terrorists! I also heard her mess up the "BG" cheer on ESPN. It was sad. You don't start a cheer through the PA system. You start them with the cheerleaders and the student section. And I agree, the PA needs turned down!

Re: Free hot chocolate
Anybody remember the game at Akron in 2008 with the tool on the field trying to pump the crowd up? He was doing his best to get the crowd to yell "ZI!" "PS!" Well, at least he was effective and he knew how to do the cheers, but I still thought it was a bad idea.
Does anybody know if they still are doing that? And if they are, is it effective? Have they change it around at all? Or for that matter, do people ever attend Akron games??

So you're referring to the loyal, hardworking, effective, knowledgeable tool .MarkL wrote:Anybody remember the game at Akron in 2008 with the tool on the field trying to pump the crowd up? He just looked like a tool, you know, like a really bad MC who thinks he's really cool and funny ... kinda like that. But I did appreciate the effort and the spirit.h2oville rocket wrote:So you're referring to the loyal, hardworking, effective, knowledgeable tool .MarkL wrote:Anybody remember the game at Akron in 2008 with the tool on the field trying to pump the crowd up?
