Free hot chocolate
Re: Free hot chocolate
I went to the UAB-Marshall game last weekend. Their game day experience is also pretty awful and they blare a rap/hip hop song after every singe play! You also could not hear the officials or the announcer. At least we're not the only ones with issues.

That's all well and good...but the problem with the referee microphone at The Doyt is nothing new. I can remember issues with the mic for years. There has to be a solution somewhere...even if that solution is NO MICROPHONE UNTIL THEY GET IT WORKING CORRECTLY!

I think the whole yelling into a microphone to pump up the crowd started in Detroit with the Pistons. Now a lot of NBA arenas hire a guy that yells into a microphone to pump the crowd up. I believe the Cavs have the same thing. I can do without it.

Re: Free hot chocolate
The Cavaliers have a guy that does both promotional announcing and pumping up the crowd, his name is Ahmaad Crump. He's actually very good at what he does and he's a big part of the gameday experience at Quicken Loans Arena. Nothing like the hag we have or the loser at the Akron games. The important thing is that he's but one of many people that are involved with in-game production, you still have the Cavalier Girls, the Scream Team, Moondog (the Cavaliers mascot), etc, that are all there to keep the energy going. Clearly we don't have all that at BG, but the "microphone yeller" could be successful at BG if we find somebody that can recite a few decent lines and not screw up the "BG! SU!" cheer. The way it is done now is just plain unprofessional.Tricky_Falcon wrote:I think the whole yelling into a microphone to pump up the crowd started in Detroit with the Pistons. Meant to tell you your spread in GQ was fantastic.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Nothing like the hag we have...
That said, I'm shocked nothing has been done about that part of our gameday experience.

I think there were several "animated" PA guys in NBA arenas way before Mason. Not to mention most of his animation is only during the player introductions...sans a few DETROIIIIIIT BASKETBALLLLLLL's.

Re: Free hot chocolate
I can go to one game a year at the Doyt. At that game the ref mic will not work.
Since we're complainin' about game day stuff, during the dance-off contest, I didn't know who was who. I think we need someone to hold a hand or hat or hankie above the contestants when they announce their name. On a positive note, congrats to the kid who made the mid-range field goal and won ???$$$.
Another positive note, the beer was great. I saw no beer-induced problems and the three times I stood in the beer line it moved quickly and smoothly.
