It never ever feels good to lose and our ladies got the sting of it early. That maybe a good thing in the long run. I believe Evansville will compete for MVC championship as they appear more talented than they were a year ago. Sure hope they keep winning as it helps us in the long run anyway. Coach Miller will get the team ready, no worries.

You guys are all talking like men without a wife who is a University of Evansville grad. This was the worst loss in the history of the program!!! :(

But yeah, if history is an indicator with Coach Miller's teams, I feel sorry for the rest of the opponents on the schedule.

Shooting lights out doesn't mean Evansvill is going to be a good team every night. Yep, that's why they put up a scoreboard. On paper we should have won this game.

It just means that an undefeated season is not possible and the rankings will have to wait until we win some league games and beat Vandy :-) Wait, is that an iceberg on the starboard side?

To Bgsufalcon24..... I don't know who you are, and frankly blogging negatively towards "your" team is garbage anyway, but I don't think you know anything about Curt Miller, his staff, or this team... THIS is not 2007, your "goals" for the season do not reflect the actual team goals, you saying the team being unprepared falls on Coach Miller... you smoke somethin... somethin cheap.
The MAC will prolly never get an at-large bid, its mid major basketball, what part don't you understand, even when they do get an at-large its a 13-15 seed anyway.

Quit running your mouth man its sad, maybe you should go to a practice and see how hard this staff/team works. Lo doesn't care about pre-season or post season accolades, talk to her, ask her, she doesn't care its not about her its about the team. In conference record is all that ever matters, win the division, win the conference, win the tourney, get to post season play. This team is completely different from any other squad we've had, because its COLLEGE, rosters and teams change every year. We have a good team this year, best back court in the MAC, the addition of D Havel is great and Uhl, Hennigan and steffen will continue to get better.

Big shout to Coach Miller, Roos, Eckart & Poole, the managers, trainers, game ops staff, and real fans who support NOT HATE.... but that's a hater's job run their mouth when somethin bad happens, jump on the wagon when all is well...
Losing is never accepted to this program they'll be back Monday night to reek havoc on the opposition.

Well said ANT! Bgsufalcon24 probably didn't even listen to the game and realize the hot start EU got off too. 4hooting 83 percent on 3s during the first 10 minutes made if difficult on us. Most teams would have packed it in but we fought back all night.

1 loss does not ruin a season. The end goal is to play your best at the end of the season, not at the beginning. Heck, Tracy was a game time decision and three of the players were under the weather.

Can't wait for ANT's take on Dustin when he spouts his negativity.

When it comes, hopefully it will come with halfway decent grammar and not a bunch of broken gibberish laced with childish cheap shots about smoking and drugs. But hey, if that's the kind of stuff that gets applauded on azz.com, whatever, I've seen it many times before.

I especially loved this beauty:

"The MAC will prolly never get an at-large bid, its mid major basketball, what part don't you understand, even when they do get an at-large its a 13-15 seed anyway"

And you guys say I'M negative. Sheesh. Just for the record, the 2007 team would've been a lock for an at-large.

But they did what they were suppose to do, win the MAC tournament, accomplishing one of their goals, and making any talk of an at-large bid irrelevant

You know, after football and everything, now I'm really pissed. This team has been the saving grace of BG athletics, the one program that has been a great boon to the athletic department through thick and thin (and carried BGSU on it's collective back in 2006-07 when football, men's basketball, and hockey were all deep in the crapper). This is shaping up to be another of those years for the men's revenue sports, so this is a sucker punch to the gut. The problem is, the women do this every year. They lose to somebody, a lot of times somebody bad, within the first 2-3 games and it kills their RPI for the entire season. This was probably our best chance ever to get out to an 8-0, 9-0, 10-0 start, get into the rankings early and challenge for some real national recognition. All that's out the window now. We'll have to win the next 15 or 20 in a row to make up for this one horrendous defeat based on the last 5 years of play.

Just devastating. Notre Dame in 2007, Valparaiso and Temple in 2009, a whole myriad of teams last year, and now lowly Evansville gets us this year. Judging by the posts here, it looks like we came out totally flat and unprepared to play and we lost as a result, and that falls squarely on coach Miller, who has had his teams struggling to play well early in the season the past 3-4 years now. Looks like our season of dreams has turned into yet another year of success (maybe) in solitude after the first game. Guaranteed at the very least we lose every single AP poll vote, and the tournament committee and the experts are pointing at this loss as a reason for why we shouldn't get an at-large at season's end, if we end up in that position.
So, you were saying.......

Well, my thoughts are that we blew out a really bad opponent. Nothing wrong with that certainly, but was I necessarily impressed by it? Not really. BG should have won big, and they did.

Ditto for the game two days later against Youngstown State, who is perennially one of the worst teams in all of Division I women's basketball. YSU is a team I would really like to see us stop playing, we don't gain anything by playing teams with RPIs in the 300s.

Now, I will say this much. If it turns out that Evansville is unexpectedly good, and carries an RPI of under 50, or even under 75 this season, then the loss last Friday won't hurt so bad in the end. But as it stands, its going to take another 5 or 6 wins in a row at least to get back to where we were before Friday's defeat. Contrary to my previous post, we still retained 5 votes in this week's AP poll, but we had 33 at the start of the year. It takes victories, and time, to get that back. The Vanderbilt game on 12/1 is going to be huge for us. A loss there, or anywhere else, and we won't get into the top 25 until after the start of MAC play, if then.
