Scheduling

Post by factman »

Does anyone find it strange that we schedule a women's home basketball game on the same night and mostly same time that we are playing the scuds in football?
I, for one, am a season ticket holder for both, and would like to see both games. Yes, I'm taping the first half of football, but it sure would be nice to see them both live to completion.

My guess is that the women's schedule was set a long time ago and the football game was still up in the air since we were looking to get it on ESPN.

Definitely the AD's fault. Definitely.

That I agree with... Why do we keep bending over backwards to get games on ESPN when it royally inconveniences the team with an inconsistent schedule and the fans with games in the middle of the week?

This is not the AD fault at all. This is the MAC and ESPN who are to blame. The women's schedule was set well in advance before the football game was selected to be on ESPN. Of course Greg Christopher could have told the MAC and ESPN to go screw itself but this game is at Toledo so Greg Christopher is usually out of the loop when it comes to scheduling away games. So basically it lies more in the hands of UT athletic direction Obrien...

Just another reason to dislike Toledo.

Guys! Greg Christopher does not control when our away games are scheduled!!! Of course he could have told Toledo we had a basketball game scheduled on the same day but ultimately it is up to Toledo and the MAC as to when the game is played. Stop blaming Greg Christopeher for every thing you do not agree with.

And before you say we could reschedule the women's game you are right. We may have been able to do that but then again the women's schedule was set before the football game date and time was set by the MAC/ESPN so more than likely Youngstown State already had its schedule set and it would not be fair to them to cancel or reschedule the game. If the game were cancelled then we lose a home game and If we cancelled the game we may have still had to pay them.

I'm guessing J4H's comment was HIGHLY tounge-in-cheek, given factman's dislike of the current AD.

Wonder what Factman will do when the Women have a home game and the men's team plays an away game the same time?

Factman, if you have a blackberry or IPhone you could always get a slingbox. You can transfer your home cable or satellite t.v. To your phone and watch tv on your phone while you are at other sporting events. :)

I've actually thought about looking into buying a slingbox for my parents' house, so I could watch NW Ohio programming in Indiana. In fact, if they had BCSN on their cable, I'd probably have done it already.

It works well for me. I travel a lot and it gives me a chance to pull into a rest area and catch a game at times. TG great idea. I have friends that live in Toledo that have BCSN. Heck it would be worth the price to buy that rather than purchasing the America One feed online. Almost every home bball and hockey game is broadcasted. And it is Slingbox not Slingblade. Got Billy Bob on your mind over there I reckon???

Better call for the "hearst". I knew what it was. I stand corrected on the why. Since I usually spend most of my nights in my own bed and I live near the campus, I guess I never thought of perhaps importing BCSN to my PC.

Now if I could just find someone willing to screen BCSN. Maybe one of my friends with BCSN basic wouldn't mind doing that.
