From sitting on ice level I can tell you, Mimai is the biggest bunch of goons there are. If being a good hockey program means being like them, I hope we go 0-40 every year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I don't think they were that bad this weekend. Way worse last year. They play a physical game, that's for sure. Playing dirty and playing physical are two different things, and I don't think I would classify the way Miami played this year as dirty.

I was on ice level, too ;-)

No you don't. That is a totally idiotic statement.

I understand that winning isn't everything, and that character counts, but the idea of a great program is not to have a team of all choirboys/girls that lose all the time. Nobody wants to see that. We're seeing that same mantra playing out with Eric Mangini and the Cleveland Browns right now, and it sucks.

I watched both games this weekend and felt like our team was competing well. We needed to do a better job of finishing our chances. One shot on a 5 minute major is not acceptable. If we do a better job of getting pucks to the net we will see more success. 5 on 5 play we did very well against arguably one of the best teams in the country. Our power play needs to be a bit more potent. Not sure what the answer is, but somehow we need to get more chances on our pp.

This weekend had a lot of side drama. Bergeron played at Miami and coached there for 10 years. He recruited most of the players on Miamis team. I am sure he was very conflicted emotionally this weekend. Next year this series will look a little different to him and to our players.

Another thing, we have played the top half of the CCHA so far and the next part of our schedule looks a little better then our first part looked. Winning a few games will go a long way for this teams confidence. Hopefully we will start with a pair of wins this weekend.

Go Falcons!!

Mohler's 1st goal Friday was awsome!

The officiating was lousy all the way around.
I'm amazed we didn't take more penalties.
The guys played reasonably well.

Friday one of our guys knocked down Reichard behind the net early in the 1st, and there was no penalty. Saturday somebody hit Knapp and basically bounced off and was sent to the box. I don't disagree with the latter, but what about the former?

Where the heck was the tripping or hooking call on Mohler's breakaway goal?

Solway plays rather dirty.

Did you catch Bergeron reading Solway the riot act after the--my memory stinks--1st/2nd period Friday/Saturday? Solway was over at the referee's crease as our guys left the ice. Bergeron yelled at him and continued as they escorted each other to the locker room.

I wonder how Samuels-Thomas took his scratch Saturday. He's a big guy and should use his size more. Also take and give some body checks.

Midway through game two, and after reviewing video of last season's fracas, I concluded that Miami plays dirty and Blasi encourages it.

Seriously.......... 0 - 40. Your out of you mind. You look at ever great team there are players that are not liked by opposing players and are a little rough around the edges because they are physical or play till the whistle is not the determing factor. If BG had these players we would ALL be cheering for them. Heck, the 84' national championship team had players that were "rough and tough" within the rules and we all cheered for them and opposing teams booed them. Same thing today but the shoe is on the other foot.

Regarding the hits toward the head or back, tends to happen when bigger guys hit smaller guys. When BG starts recruiting bigger players it won't seem so bad.

Actually, I thought the officiating was pretty good this weekend. A lot more penalties COULD have been called, but I thought they were fair and reasonable.

Somebody wondered why we didn't get called for the contact behind the net on their goalie... I believe it was because our forward had already established his movement towards the puck before the goalie went back to play it. The other play, however, was out in the open, and even tho the contact was very light, its a call thats got to be made.

When their guys are 3-4 inches taller than us, every hit looks like its head-hunting. Miami plays aggressively, but I'm certainly not going to blame them for that. As impotent as our PP has been, they have no reason to fear playing shorthanded.

Wow, no I really dont want us to go 0-40. That statement merely reflects the fact that I never want our program to resemble anything like Miami. There is a thing called class and BG should always keep it. I saw us lose it against Miami, and while I can understand some of why we did, it is still unacceptable. Losing I can deal with, but losing WHILE being classless, that doesnt fly, no matter the opponent.

But thanks for the over reaction and general hostility, would never expect anything else on here.

I dislike the majority of Miami fans as much as the next guy on here, for reasons that came out of high school (I'm from that area), but I don't understand the general hatred towards Miami Hockey.... why wouldn't we want to be like them? They are (mostly) successful and an excellent program, with great recruiting (thanks Coach!) and a great game to go with it.

See Blasi's bow last season. Totally classless in an 8-2 game.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I thought it was funny. That still doesn't mean the game they play is bad, and that their program is one of the top in the nation, etc.

And everyone has a bad night every now and again ;-)

First thing first, let's become a winning team/organization and then we can focus on winning with class. I am not saying that winning and winning with class are mutually exclusive. I just don't want to veer too far away from winning. We can alway discuss the way we conduct ourselves on the ice, but I think we would all agree that is a much better discussion when we are discussing it after winning. Winning will put fans in the seats and make BG hockey fun again. Bergeron will bring BG back to its winning tradition with his coaching and outstanding recruiting. As far as liking Miami and the way they play, I can only say this, they are Miami, so therefore I don't like them or the way they play. I did not like Bergeron when he was Miami. Now that he is Bowling Green, I like him and I'm glad that he got a lot smarter since last winter. Remember we are all Bowling Green!

Dont take yourself so seriously, my friend. When you make a ridiculous statement like "I hope we go 0-40 every year" you ought to expect to get jumped on.
