If you and your family have given that much monetary support, then your name is well known in the athletic department. Have a face-to-face meeting with the AD and give him a printed list of these legitimate complaints!! Your complaints are well founded and it annoys the crap out of me that our athletic department allows this kind of stuff to go on. It am sure much of it goes back to the fact that the department has made a lot of big cuts. They have students organizing and running much of these events. I know that the students need the experience, but they also need the guidance and the paid staff leading them and keeping track of the details and the accountability!gmartin wrote:But when the gate people are not organized, takes two hours to leave the stadium when Minny and Boise are in town, we cannot get the ref a decent mic, we have a great band yet they insist on playing Miley Cyrus on the PA, we have a chick screaming on the PA, we had 5000 at the game yesterday and NO Toilet Paper in the restroom, and ran out of hot chocolate (went down right after the band played). How the hell can you run out of hot chocolate with at best 5000 people. Scheduling is ridiculous.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Dropping Season tickets
Guys, let's stay the course. If we want to bring BG back to the top of the MAC and to become more of a regional presence, it requires ALL of us and more to stay the course. I believe we can do it. I wasn't happy with how things worked out this year, but I am optimistic for 2011!
I will be touch with Mr.Christopher regarding my experiences this season. Start times and game nights are a problem!

I don't know the exact amount my parents and I donate but since 1972 my parents have given $10,000 to the athletic department. I will let you do the math. That doesn't include my generosity. Doesn't include all season tickets for 6 seats to all 4 major sports for that time however only season tickets for the women's bball for since they began those. And then there are the Falcon club dues. I have talked with GC three separate occasions and my parents much more. I think he is a great guy, very knowledgeable and a stand up guy. He has brought many great things including Curt Miller staying put, the Stroh and renovations to the ice rink however daily admin duties and gameday experiences need help!!
Running out of TP and hot chocolate is unacceptable. I appreciate students and all the volunteers but maybe its time to HIRE respectable help, I.e. Janitors for restrooms, vendors, ushers and ticket sellers!

No one is calling you out..... and I wasn't specifically talking to you.... but seriously..... giving money isn't getting involved. As suggested by FF, call the AD and find out how to get involved. There are alumni groups and advisory groups where your voice can be heard. That's what I'm talking about.
As far as week night games and games around Thanksgiving. Its going to continue to happen. And if it gets the MAC some TV games, so much the better. I was at Miami-Temple game Tuesday night. Smaller than normal crowd.... but it was nice to see some students stayed in Oxford for the game. Much better attendance than two years ago for the Black Friday afternoon game with hardly any students were in the stands. I have to imagine attendance for BG's T-day week game would be better if it was the Toledo or Miami game.

No one should have to waste their time with some of these issues. Hot chocolate and tp? Come on. Fans shouldn't have to worry about running out of toilet paper. I agree completely on the season tix.
Personally, I'm concerned with the fact were bad in just about every sport we compete in, with the exception of womens bball and baseball. Seems like the last few years we're near the bottom of the standings with almost all the teams. Fans aren't going to show up to watch teams that are in last place.
I don't have the same confidence as others that we're headed in the right direction in football. Hopefully these freshman we red shirted will be ready to go.

Re: Dropping Season tickets
The start times and midweek games are here to stay. The conference has made a decision to sacrifice the convenience of traditional Saturday afternoon games for the television exposure they get from an ESPN game every now and then. Watching the last quarter of Miami-Temple, a close game with divisional championship implications, the stadium looked like a ghost town on TV.
Re: Dropping Season tickets
Students home for T-day certainly hurts, but I don't think many would come back on Saturday to watch the game..... particularly with that televised game in C'bus.JoeFalcon wrote:Watching the last quarter of Miami-Temple, a close game with divisional championship implications, the stadium looked like a ghost town on TV.
We still have to fight the anti-BG alumni mentality..... I had just chastised a very good friend who went to Marshall and who was going to root for the Buckeyes earlier this season...... and one of our own BG Alum posted this......
"WELL...after all that (whew)...GO BUCKS!!! If you grew up an "Ohioan" and a Buckeye fan, then you will ALWAYS be a Buckeye fan first...regardless of where you actually went to school (unless, of course, you attended a school that rivals OSU in "relevance" on the national stage in football...even then, maybe a 50-50 proposition). I remember missing (most) BG games during my time there, because I was watching the BUCKOS on TV (when available), or games that "impacted" OSU!! Even though those BG teams were pretty good back then...they were "irrelevant" outside the local bubble. I used to know some of those guys socially, and would always enjoy ribbing them when (we) would see (them) at a Sat. night party somewhere and ask "so how'd you guys do today?"...the facial expressions were "priceless"!! I recall being very excited when OSU began scheduling the MAC teams...BGSU was the first (great)... even went to an alumni function the night before...but once at the 'Shoe it was Buckeyes all the way...hoped BG would make a good showing, but definitely wanted OSU to win (more at stake). Statehood first...regional ties second....."
My response was -
"Nothing wrong with being a Bucks fan (I think I just threw-up in my mouth) but when they play your alma mater.... you have to support your school first. (Name withheld to protect the guilty) .... the alumni office is on the phone.... they want to talk to you."
Now this type of mentality really hurts us and I don't know to overcome it.

Statehood? Or should I say "statehood"? "(What's with all the "s? Must be an "OSU" thing)". Did you remind him that BGSU is a "state" school, hence the letter "S" in "BGSU"? I don't under"stand" that type of mentality but hey, people can "cheer" for whoever they want, that's "why" this is such a "great" country. Statehood has to be the "worst" excuse ever-if you were "really" into statehood you'd root for the first "state" school that has an "Ohio" in its name, "right"? And that's "not" OSU "."

If this current AD cannot recognize the absolute deplorable game-day atmosphere at The Doyt without having a face-to-face with a "rich" donor, then he needs to be removed of his duty immediately!

RWT has hit the nail on the head. There is no one in this administration that pays much "attention to detail" when it come to these types of things including facilities, maintenance and field maintenance.

I can't help but think that both the AD and the Coach have used their individual Mulligan this season. Next year better bear the fruits of their stick-to-it-iveness this year of they both need to be fired.

ADs at non-football-factories generally don't get canned because the football team has a couple down years.
Also, blaming the AD for a concession stand running out of hot chocolate is a lot like blaming Obama because my garbage didn't get picked up this week. Let's keep the personal agendas out of here.

That depends....who signed the contract with Gladieux to run concessions? Concessions have pretty much blown chunks since they took it over.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:ADs at non-football-factories generally don't get canned because the football team has a couple down years.

I agree, I'm pretty sure the AD signs...or least recommends who does food service at the games. It's certainly not our job to blame and/or send suggestions to Gladieux. Yeah, there may be an underling in charge of it, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the AD.

Why couldn't they do concessions in house? This seems like an after thought for all involved. Have many of you attended other MAC schools to see what concessions are like? I've been to Toledo, Akron and Western MI. All are much better than BG.
