Falcons win again

Not the best performance from the Falcons this afternoon, but it was a win nonetheless. Reimold lit it up, Almanson played well down low, and Soler was all over the place (even though he missed his first shots of the year today).

Steven Wright had another sub-par game due mainly to foul trouble, which he needs to start avoiding. He gets alot of steals, but he gets in foul trouble on reaches way out top that are unnecessary. We are going to need Stevie on the floor when we get to the more athletic MAC teams, such as EMU and WMU this week.

So we're 9-2, 3-0 in early January. I think we have 2 games this week that will tell us alot about this team's potential down the road. A road game against a good Eastern team and a homer against the defending champs. It would be great to get 2 wins and start getting some more butts in the seats. This team deserves to play in front of a packed Anderson Arena.

Anybody heading up to Ypsi on Wednesday night?

Our guys need to start moving more without the ball. We keep ending up with 4 guys all close together and the other outside the 3 point line on the other side of the court. People are passing and not cutting to the basket right away and usually wait til the ball is passed again and then end up getting no where with the movement. I know we are more of a 3 point team but we still need to spread out and get the big guys the ball down low to compete every game. Don't get me wrong, we won and I'm glad but down the stretch, today's gameplay won't cut it.

I'm 99.9% sure I'm heading to Eastern this Wednesday...

can't go to ypsi because I'm going to the Women's game here -- if any of you guys can't make the trip up north, come out and support the ladies against the defending tourney champs. Hopefully we can sweep the directional games on Wednesday night!

I always forget they play the same night. That .1% might keep me here at the women's game...I don't like missing home games!!!

Glad we got another win today! I'm excited to be back in BG so I can go to some games! The last three weeks have been pure torture!

This has been the classic problem for the last few years with this team. Earlier in the year, we looked much better. However, as of late we seem to be drifting back into our rut of a static offense with bad spacing, poor ball movement, and little weak-side activity. I REALLY noticed this against Buffalo. We need to snap out of this or I'm afraid we're going to start losing games.

It's a great record and I'm proud of our guys! However, opposing teams watching the game film will eventually notice this and things COULD get bad. Sure it isn't a problem yet but fixing little things like that before they become problems would be a good idea IMO.

And Grant, I loved the orange jacket! Nice job on the bass!

A win is a win is a win....and 9-2, 3-0 MAC is pretty darn good! We had a big family party here at the house today so I couldn't listen to the game over the net...but I kept sneaking down the the sports nest to catch the score updates on ESPN.

Reimold and Almanson are kicking tail...and seem to be showing great leadership. From reading the box score, it sounded like Fitch had an awesome game.

Like BGSU33 said in another thread, we have a pretty tough stretch coming up.

Just keep racking up those W's!

It was a good win this afternoon -- now if we could get that placed packed for these guys it would be the perfect atmosphere.

A few quotes jumped out today after the game -- this one from Judson is pretty cool:

"Too much R & A. Not rebounding and assists but Reimold and Almanson. They're as good as anybody in the league and they pulled their team through today."

John and Josh really were key in making those big buckets with the shot clock expiring.

I like how Dakich is being rather up front about the difference between last year's team and this year's. He mentioned something again in post-game:

"I kind of said before the game that this team (NIU) mirrors us. They lost some guys from last year that were supposed to be the greatest that weren't and we did too and this was just a hard-fought game."

I read that as a dig on the players who left for various reasons but also a (perhaps unintentional) dig on fans who judge the team by how many star recruits it signs.

I hope that soon coach can focus on the positives that we're seeing this year as opposed to comparing the two teams and seemingly make more and more excuses for the dissapointment last season.

It was my first chance to see the team in person, and I was impressed by Soler. He sure brings some energy...
I noticed the same thing McMetz mentioned. Reimold had the ball on the wing a couple of times and was yelling for some guys to move.

I was also hoping for more students at the game. I didn't realize classes started today. We got seats right behind the student section in hopes of standing and yelling a lot more. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back out there!

And Grant, did Lou Henson give you that blazer after he left Illinois?
My challenge to you is to find a plaid one, a la Wimp Sanderson! Or do you already have one...?

It never hurts to try and fix your problems, even when things are going well though

I do have faith that Dan is seeing this same problem though, and working on fixing it. He doesn't seem to be the kinda guy that says, "We're winning, so we must be doing everything right"

You're right about that... We should always be looking at what's not right, I'm just saying... let's take a little joy in the fact that this team is playing WELL and is winning!! None of us expected this. We played pretty ugly yesterday and still won by double-digits.

Stagnation is an issue at times, but you can bet it's being addressed. I'm just WAY more excited about the positives I'm seeing in this team than the negatives. Problems with execution can be fixed, problems with team chemistry are MUCH more difficult to resolve. This team doesn't seem to have those personnel problems.

I guess right now I'm seeing our glass as 3/4 full, not 1/4 empty.

And thanks for all the compliments on the jacket!! It's an authentic BGSU Marching Band jacket circa 1964.

Have you ever seen anything quite that cool before?? hahahahah... I may wear it up to Ypsi!
