Last twenty three games vs LSSU. We have lost the last three games vs LSSU. They are bigger and a little older then us and we are playing them in their barn. They have lost their last four games. Two to U of Michigan and one to Denver and one to Clarkson. They are averaging more goals per game scored and less goal allowed per game. This could be a very challenging weekend. Cmon BGSU!!
This series will tell us where we really are as a hockey team. We've played 5 CCHA series this season. The top 4 teams and the 6th place NMU. Anything less than a split is unacceptable at this point. From here on out a win every week should be expected. The boys can play with every team left on the schedule, including Miami.
I agree that this series could be a defining point for this season. Coach Bergeron continues to get improvement from this team. If we have a great effort this weekend we could take two. However, we need all of our parts moving in concert.
Coach Bergeron seems to be doing some good things with these guys so far, we have a great group of solid players(when there heads are in the game), with the way we are able to play for at least half of the weekend we should be able to top this team and then come back home and beat osu...
Go BG!
also...they need to take down the old lights hanging next to the new lights in the arena...if anyone has a ladder please let the ice arena staff borrow it so they can accomplish this, thanks

Take down fixtures, leave wiring intact.. fire hazard. There's no need to take them down when they are still functional. Besides, who cares?
I don't see any reason to focus on previous seasons' results when looking at this year's matchup with Lakers.
A much better indication would be to look at how both teams have fared against common opponents this year. We've played 10 games against teams that have played LSSU, and they've played 9 games against those same opponents: NotreDame, Miami, Michigan, Northern Michigan and Clarkson.
We're 3-7-0, they're 1-7-1. We're averaging 1.80 gpg while allowing 3.30, LSSU has averaged 1.89 gpg while allowing 3.89. These next two series (LSSU and tOSU) are crucial for us. It's our best opportunity to get some points in the conference standings, earn some respect and instill a 'winning' mindset.
Let's start with THREE solid periods on Friday night!
Freddie, you are correct. Common opponent comparison is probably a better analysis of this year. Great analysis. However, no matter how you slice this weekend competition, we are very close in statistics. I hope we get a few bounces to go our way early.
I wonder if the coach will start Eno on Friday night? He mentioned he may change it up a little in one of his pressers last week. I am not sure how I feel about changing them up. It may work.

Go Falcons!!
Whatever it takes! Sometimes a change of this type can provide the spark needed to nudge a team up to the next leval. If we can play a solid THREE periods, I dont think it matters which of them is in net either night. THREE periods is the key...or would that be THREE periods ARE the keys.

Remove the old wiring and the fixtures. The old lights next to the new lights make the arena look terrible. The old lights are hanging there w/o any bulbs and are in pretty bad shape. Our program is one of the most storied programs in college hockey and that arena is all we can show for it; we can do much better than what it looks like now. The removal of the old lights and the improvement of the sound system should have been apart of the renovation over the summer. Next time your back in BG check out the arena...

OK.
We get it.
The sound system sucks.
The old light fixtures look bad.
Perhaps these OUGHT to have been fixed in phase 1 of the renovation.
They weren't.
Get over it.
This thread is about the upcoming LakeSuperior series.
Any thoughts or comments about that?

LOL, I check out the Arena often. I take pictures there. Of our hockey team, when they are playing. I think the lights aren't noticeable, because I'm watching the game instead of looking at the ceiling.
On Topic: If our defense steps up and we can get better on dumping the puck into the offensive zone and chasing without over exerting ourselves, we'll come away with two nights of solid play and )hopefully) wins as well.

The only reason I brought up the lights is because recruits look at our facilities when comparing programs. The players that I have spoken with highlight these things; so if we want to "bring back the glory" we need to put some effort into some cosmetic aspects of the game, that being our facilities.
The Falcons should win these two games. The way we were able to play our Friday games against Miami and Notre Dame attest to what we are capable off. I am hoping for at least a split...

GO FALCON ICERS!!!!
SINK THE LAKERS...TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second." ~~USCHO Poster "BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got." ~~USCHO Poster, AFTER Tech beat us #NeverGiveUp
