New "BGSU" letters on football stadium
Re: New "BGSU" letters on football stadium
Can't say I'm sold on this yet. Kind of liked the old block letters. But it makes sense to keep things consistent.
Just initial thoughts - Looking forward to seeing the new letters up close.

was hoping they would be a bit bigger then they are, but they look sharp, as does the BG logo they are adding to the Wooster side of the Stroh Center

I'll try and grab some tomorrow, along with photos of the giant bird. If not tomorrow then over the break for sure.

If at all possible, could you try taking some of the new landscaped tailgate areas well, I would love to see how it looks.toddpav wrote:I'll try and grab some tomorrow, along with photos of the giant bird. If not tomorrow then over the break for sure.

Got my chance to see the new letters and illuminated logo on the east side of the Doyt up close!...Took this one as well as a few of the Stroh during a quick dinner stop (Pollyeyes) on my way home from Thanksgiving. Definitely a fan of the updated letters (and they look great when lit)...but, of course, I do miss the old block ones!PresBG wrote:Can't say I'm sold on this yet. Kind of liked the old block letters. I still remember my first time seeing those old letters. We were driving up to Ann Arbor to visit my brother in his freshman year of college. I was a junior in high school at the time, and we stopped at one of the hotels by I-75. The BGSU letters were brightly lit and stood out well against the night sky, and I guess that remains my first memory of BG. Furst of many, many memories. Not too long later, I visited the campus and was sold.

Same here MarkL. The first time I saw them was driving up my junior year of high school to be in the band reading clinic. I had pretty much already decided on BG, but my experiences at the reading clinic completely sold me. (BG almost claimed my car in a foot and a half of snow thoughMarkL wrote:I still remember my first time seeing those old letters. I do have to say that the new letters look awesome and they stand out really well when lit.

Agreed, the letters and logo look fantastic when lit up at night.musicman2343 wrote: I do have to say that the new letters look awesome and they stand out really well when lit.
My first memory of BG is also the stadium letters. Don't remember my first time seeing them, but we would always stop in BG when coming back from vacation in northern Michigan when I was a kid, and when it came to deciding on what colleges to look at I was like well might as well look at that college we always pasted on 75 with the letters on the stadium (granted this was back in 03 so getting GameDay to come helped too). The rest then you could say is history

Thanks for the photos, Preston! I'm looking forward to seeing them illuminated from I-75 during my next trip to BG. The Stroh Center is looking great as well! While I'll miss the old, block BGSU letters on The Doyt, I think it's a good update.

I'm in the same boat with many other Falcon faithful, as my first memory of BGSU involves those block stadium letters. I could always count on seeing them every January when my dad and I would drive home from the Auto Show in Detroit. Don't actually ever remember them on the way TO Detroit, but I would always wake up right around the time we'd pass the stadium at night. This went on for years until we stopped going to the Auto Show. Came back to BG for an Honors Band in '01 and, like Cincy, the rest is history.BGFalconfromCincy wrote: My first memory of BG is also the stadium letters. Got my first look at the illuminated peekaboo logo last night and it looks pretty nice, albeit a tad hard to make out from the e-way if you did not know exactly what it was!
