Go BG!
If only there was a fix for the conditioning. Actually, the lack thereof. Boys looked dead tired at the end of the second and didn't look any better when they came out of the locker room for the third.
Holy Cow... completely agree with you...

These guys truly gave it their all during the first period, and it showed. The first power play we had, we kept it in OSU's zone the entire time. It was one of the best periods of hockey I've seen BGSU play in 6 years. I mean that.

But we couldn't sustain it. We were dog tired in the second, as you pointed out. This ultimately lead to sloppy play and poor penalties. We had more penalties this game than our past three combined.

If our guys can figure out how to spend enough energy to get the job done without killing themselves in one period and spread it over the entire game, we have a team. A good team. I saw flashes of excellence tonight. Too bad the outcome was not what everyone had hoped for.

As an aside... after OSU scored their first goal in the third period with 15:00 remaining, our fans started the scoreboard chant. I turned to a fellow photographer and said "That's gonna come back to bite us in the ass." Looks like it did. I enjoy our fans enthusiasm, but lets not get cocky here.

Oh, and the band started to play twice DURING actual gameplay. Poor execution.

More to come tomorrow, naturally. The winning pictures are the best ones.

Poor leadership....or more accurately, lack of understanding about the rules of play DURING PLAY by the leader of the band. That said, however, the SIZE of the band was OUTSTANDING!!! :supz: That has to be the largest band they've ever had at a hockey game!! AWESOME!!!

GO FALCONS!!
BEAT THE SCHMUCKS!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

"And to the other comment about top end talent being at OSU. I completely disagree with you. Stats aside after watching each of these teams play OSU belongs in the basement of the CCHA. Close game tonight w/ a loss in overtime...hopefully BG can get the win or at least some points tomorrow."

If only the actual standings were based off who you thought should go where. Unfortunately for us, most of the time, that is why they play the games. Hopefully tonight we can grab a win before break.

That ending sucked BiG time! Still, the Freaklings and I had a great time. Hopefully we can get the split tonight. The Falcons looked worn out in the 3rd.

Thanks for the tix FF!!!

Pretty sure me and my buddy where the only people in the student section who didn't do that chant. As I said to him, you only do that when its a blowout, high schoolers know that, our students should too.

Drago OSU is in the basement of the CCHA with the stats as they are right now with the rest of the bottom four of fairly similar teams. Sorry you don't like hearing others opinions Drago even though they align with the current stats. Go BG!

ahhh tought loss...hopefully we can get it together over the break

Actually, Drago is right. OSU has tons of talent on the team. By all rights, they should be near the top of the CCHA, but sometimes, thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

As for tonight's game, we didn't look so great. Clearly out of gas (from last night, still), we never could put a solid effort together, during any period. Another tough weekend in the books.
