Obviously, you're right...although generally college hockey uses Wins and losses to determine the standings. What stats are you looking at that says Ohio State should be in last place? I can't stand Ohio State, butt they clearly aren't as bad as you think.

One, maybe two bad calls. The rest were pretty much on. It was more sloppy playing than anything else. The only penalties I didn't like was the one where Toy got called for grabbing the facemask... that should've been a game DQ.

Also, the last time Solway got sent to the box for roughing after the whistle. He was being laid on top of and wasn't even fighting. Those were the only two bad calls.

Due to my camera deciding it didn't want to record anything I didn't manage to grab the presser. I'll post a link to the official video when it's posted.

If we have the same roster come January 1st I'll be very surprised.

Coach has done a pretty good job of shuffling guys in and out of the lineup. Only Vargas and Rushing have played significantly less than half the games so I'm not sure what roster changes we can really make mid-season. Maybe they'll finally settle on combinations for four lines and use the other guys as injury replacements. I for one would like to see at least the top two lines stay settled so that they can develop some chemistry.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

I meant more along the lines of players not returning for next semester.

Looked more like a pond hockey game than a college game... #-o And I don't care what anyone says....the refereeing left a LOT to be desired tonight!

I think the break will do them all a lot of good.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Line judge on west side needs to learn how to not interfere with the puck.

Just some thoughts as I think back on a few things from the weekend:
- JST was basically benched for the whole third period tonight. He's fallen back on his old habits and the coaches seem to be getting very tired of it.
- I really like how Bergeron comes out and talks to the students before the warm-ups.
- Really good crowds for both games this weekend. I got to the rink late Friday due to work and actually had to park in the grass behind the rink.
- McIntosh needs to stay on the blueline. He looks much more comfortable there and Bergeron seemed to enjoy the look it gave the team.
- I didn't think the officiating was bad other than the Toy penalty. Toy snapped and should have been tossed.
- OSU did not send an SID with the team due to budget cuts. I guess even OSU has money problems?

I guess this series basically confirms that we're a bad hockey team. It's a shame because the team by all rights should've gotten at least one win against Lake Superior, if not two, while they probably should have won last night's game against OSU. But again, you are what your record says you are, and by that basis, we stink. Comparatively, stink is better than football's "freaking terrible" and men's basketball's "worst BG team of the decade" labels, but it still doesn't feel good.

Again, I wonder at what point are we collectively going to start demanding some WINS around here. This was a series that, most posters on here thought we should win. And we got swept, at home, again. And yet tonight people are on here talking about officiating and backtracking previous statements about how OSU really wasn't as bad as they seemed two days ago. People have made excuses like these for the hockey program's lack of winning ever since I set foot on campus in 2005. At some point, maybe not this year, maybe not even next, but someday, the BG fanbase has got to start demanding more from this team and program. Finishing in the basement of the CCHA almost every freakin year is UNACCEPTABLE.

There was one, maybe two people in here that were saying how bad Ohio State is. Most everyone was saying that, while their record is bad, they have talent. So, I'm not sure there was much backtracking.

I stick with what I said earlier in the year. I expected us to win 6-8 games this year. Guess what? We're at that point. Awesome. Coach Bergeron is putting together a pretty damn good team considering what he has to work with. We don't have size, we don't have much speed, and we only have a few players who really have the individual talent to play the game without anyone else helping them.

Finishing in the basement of the CCHA every year is unacceptable, for sure. If things don't change in 2-3 years, then I think we can start with the pitchforks and stuff. Give the new coaching staff a chance to get their recruiting going and their gameplan installed.

And a chance to improve the conditioning that had suffered since the Buddy Powers era. Having guys come to the bench halfway through the second barely able to skate has got to be one of the most frustrating things as a coach because there is no mid-season fix. It's an off-season problem.

I do look for improvement next year as the team will be able to skate together in the summer. Not having ice all last summer plus a new coach with new expectations is showing greatly now.
