Unlikely Beckham gets a better offer- the disastrous stay in MLS precludes anyone wanting to pay him the money he and his wife would demand-I foresee modeling and a reality show for him.
Hope it added a little spice to your day.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

seems like he never said Al Golden wasn't going to leave Temple, he just didn't think Golden had a shot at the Penn State jobRollo83 wrote:Pretty sure Al Golden has no shot whatsoever if Joe Pa leaves.

Re: Coaching Carousel
Honestly that may be the worst hire by a BCS conference team in the last 10 years. They would have been better off keeping Shannon, at least he could recruit.
Re: Coaching Carousel
Wow! You were dead on. Al Golden (or Algolden as you put it) is the next coach at Penn State. You've got some kind of crystal ball there genius.sportydude1818 wrote:AL Golden to miami... If you remember, I said Golden would never be the replacement at Penn State for Paterno. Penn State has a coach-in-waiting in house when Joe Pa retires. Plus, a guy that's 26-32 overall in 5 years without ever winning a sausage in the MAC isn't going to be the first coach Penn State hires in over 40 years.
Look at the Miami and Penn State programs the last decade and tell me what's the better job?

Ok Lets look at Miami and Penn State the last Decade and see what the better job is:
Combined Record from 2000 - 2010
Penn State: 84 - 51
Miami: 99- 37
How many National Championships Did Penn state have this decade? That would be Zero:
National Championships:
Miami: 1
Penn State:0
Anyway do some research before you decide to throw out a comment like that. Lets hear your response to this one. Im sure you will find a spelling mistake or something to make you giggle, only to hide the fact of how wrong you are.

Re: Coaching Carousel
I don't like this hire for Miami, yes Golden turned Temple into a winner, but it was in a down MAC where he still never made it to a MAC Championship Game. Am I surprised Golden moved, no I'm not, but I wasn't expecting Miami to be the job he moved on from Temple for. Looking at some of the jobs that were open or are still open I would have expected to see Golden end up at like a Indiana, Minnesota, or Pitt

You left out the most obvious one of all. Miami practices and plays all their home games in .....Miami.

Finally! You make a well thought out point here without calling anyone a name. I knew you had it in you. See, we have discussions on this board like civilized people. We don’t always agree but we respect each other and our individual opinions. If someone crosses the line they are going to get called out on that. But I digress…sportydude1818 wrote:Rollo83 Says

Back to your point, I agree that the “last decade” statement may have been a stretch when you consider records. I forgot that Larry Coker won a title with Butch Davis’ players in 2000 before he “flamed” at Miami. But most of the last decade Penn State has been the better program in terms of wins and losses. Penn State is 58-18 since 2005, while Miami has gone 44-31 and is now on its third coach in six years and fourth in the last 11 years. Not a lot of stability in the program.
But I don’t think you judge which job is more desirable on wins and losses alone. I’d much rather be sitting in Happy Valley with that program than fighting it out in Florida with the likes of Florida, FSU and the rest of the SEC recruiting base…let alone your ACC foes. PLus they recruit a whole different "student athlete" as well. Just my opinion…
“OK people, move along. Nothing to see here…”

Evidently, Northern Illinois has hired Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Dorenen (sp) to be their new head coach.
