Great Win!!

Post by orangeBGbrown »

I am kinda curious as to why the ney-sayers who are so quick to criticize how poorly we have played in the past are so slow to commend how well we played today.
A great all out win by the Falcons, even without Scott Thomas. BG shot 50% from the field (so much for being a horrible shooting team), scored 35 in the first half, and held a fast FIU offense to 36% shooting in the 2nd half.
This was a great all out, high intensity win for the Falcons and a great stepping stone for the season. The downfall of this game was of course FT shooting and foul trouble. But this is a great win and I'm looking forward to seeing them string together a few in the coming weeks.

It sounds like they played hard and played team offense today. Orr mentioned in his post game remarks about the guys making the extra pass to get a better look at the basket. The shooting % seemed to reflect that.

As long as the effort is there and we are making strides on offense, we should be happy. I am curious to see how an improved Falcon squad will fare now in the MAC schedule.

Go Falcons!

Oh the "ney-sayers" are still here. And I apologize for being a little late. I didnt realize you would be setting off the fireworks about the win so early!! Just keep in mind we beat a FIU Team who's only wins are to Florida Memorial, Berry, Utah Valley, Chattanooga and Our Sister of Mary girls Junior Varsity Team. They got dialed by Florida State and Louisville and lost to freaking Jackson State. In other words, they suck. So this isnt really a big win. We should have won. But a win is a win I guess. Cherish it because I dont think there will be many more this year. Not until a change is made at the head of the program. Go Falcons.

Of course now you can't go to another game until they lose again.

Wow. Someone just pulled out the "ney-sayers" card after defeating a team coached by Isiah Thomas. Dee Brown shot the ball very well and BG played by far it's best game so far this season. As for this being a bad shooting team, it is. 10 games are a good enough sample size to realize that. Let's hope Isiah comes back next year.

It was a good win.

Most encouraging is that we played well. I don't care that the team on the other side was terrible, we actually did things that we haven't done in past games. It's a sign of progress. We attacked on offense, and found open shots. Brown & Calhoun were both under control and got their shots/points within the flow of the offense.

Obviously the opponent being bad helps immensely in GETTING those open shots, but it was nice to see them play as a team and win the game.
