Travel wasn't the best but it wasn't horrible.
Sam Hornish stayed the whole game - that impressed me (usually people like that leave as soon as they see an open route to the door). The team played with some drive. The band sounded good. The officials were buddy-buddy with Stan Joplin.
I enjoyed the play of Craig Sealey who has nice ups. Cameron Black was a beast in limited action due to fouls. McElroy & Calhoun were solid most of the game. On the outside Brown was the only consistant contributer. The others faded at times.

Re: Sunday's game
685 in attendance............brutal.
I would think this is more concerning to the athletic department then the teams record. Its December and its Northwest Ohio you know there are times when its going to be snowing out. Leave a little earlier and drive slower.
With the team playing the way they are, I'm sure the potential of turning 685 people to a men's game, which is suppose to be one of the revenue sports, in a new building next year almost makes it seem like it was worth it .........
Hope the women keep winning they will put fans in the new stands.

Re: Sunday's game
685 was the "announced" attendance, I wonder what it really was? I thought it made no sense to go against NFL football on a Sunday Afternoon. Why didn't they play Saturday? FIU hadn't played in a week, so that shouldn't have mattered. Hockey played at night, so I wonder what the deal was. Doesn't make much sense to me, but it seems like common sense is lacking around the athletic department with a lot of things. I guess they thought SH jr. would pack the stands. I am glad we played better, but our next opponent will be a little more of a test.

Re: Sunday's game
685 really seemed a little low if not accurate. Saturday afternoon games compete with youth events at Y's and elementary and middle school events, Saturday night games compete with HS games and Sunday competes against the NFL. You can't pick a perfect time on the weekend. At least it wasn't 5:30 on Wednesday.
I think the AD was assessing the crowd from his spot in the tunnel. It has to be an issue on his desk that gets discussed at length sooner or later or all the time. The attendance at women's games, hockey and football are all disappointing as well. I think they are desperately looking for solutions but marketing is under funded attempting low budget timeout activities that do little more than entertain young kids and those who know the participants. The women prove even winning is not enough to bring substantial crowds.

Re: Sunday's game
A better promotions announce than the one this year might help, this new mix of canned and live music annoys me, and it's tough to give away grand prizes on beer budgets. It's not what puts my butt into the seat.
As far as the men, I think they became more exciting from the down 17 points second half of the game before this one. Yeah, they will lose a lot, but at least it's more exciting than watching paint dry in a stupid half court zone defense.
In the women's game, I've spent the last 4 years with this team after my Knoblauch forced exile (it took me a while to wander back to it). Knowing the players and watching them win has kept me going back to the games.
Your "marketing" isn't geared to me. I'm going, no matter what evil things you do. But, you're not going to entice me to either a football or hockey game, even if you GIVE AWAY THE TICKETS.
I'm guessing I'm not alone.

FWIW, Sam is always mentioned as being from Defiance, OH at all the NASCAR race introductions I have ever heard.
