This is getting interesting!

Another OL has verballed, evidently today.....Dominique Wharton, 6'4"-280 from "ASA College", a JC that I've never heard of before out of Brooklyn, NY. Other kids from this team include 2 going to Ole Miss, 1 to Miss. St., and 1 to Temple, so it might be a pretty good program for OL.... BTW, he's the "smallest" of the guys who've verballed to the other schools. Looks like Clawson wasn't fooling when he said we need to "fix" the OL and DB situation, based upon the verbals so far. Would like to see us get a solid RB with some size to add to the mix, though the redshirt Fr. from Ill. might fill that bill eventually as I thought he was pretty fair size compared to our other RB's.

Looks like Wharton has also signed a LOI, so might be in school by this 2nd semester.

I know that Clawson said it could not be a full class because of all of the Fr and Fr(r), but this seems like the makings of a full class. 16 so far with lots of time to go.

Early on Clawson mentioned around 18 recruits. However, he later mentioned the possible defection/transfer of some guys so the number might increase to the low 20s for this year's class.

I'm also wondering whether this year's "Walk-ons" i.e. Cooper etc. will get scholarships (certainly deserve them)...and whether THEY will count as part of this year's group. :-k

Walk-ons may well use up some schollies. I wish BG would keep thier rosters up to date including whose on scholarship. They try to keep a profile but it never seems up to date either. It would be intersting to see how many guys were offerred, preferred walk-ons, walk-ons from out of nowhere, JC xfers etc... Compare that with starters, two-deep or those who never play or those who left etc... I think it would be an eye-opener and expose how much of a crapshoot recruiting really is.

On the other hand, this is one the fun times of year. Because recruiting is such a crapshoot, my imagination allows me to think of each recruit as a diamond in the rough.
