MARIST KICKS SOME AS-PIRING BIG SCHOOLS' HOPES

Post by jburket »

The small, but mighty Red Foxes from Marist beat Louisville on Friday and then ranked Nebraska on Sunday in the "Duel in the Desert" Las Vegas tournament this past weekend. Coach Miller commented in a Tweet that 9 mid-majors won over power conference teams this weekend.

Hooray, mid-majors! You just GOTTA root for the little guys, or "little gals" as it were.

Marist is really strong. They reached the sweet 16 the same year we did, and I think we played them in a tournament either last year or the year before last, they beat us 70-65. They are certainly a mid-major powerhouse, not unlike ourselves.

Not trying to downplay Marist but we lost that game more than they won it unfortunately... We blew a 16 point lead in the last 10min going cold from the floor.

Still, great to see a mid-major win big!
