Yup, done screaming... Just felt compelled to respond to the initial post on this thread and forgot to logout... My opinion of saint jimmy and his tatooed flock has not changed much... The vested one knew he needed these five to have a chance... Just like he needed Bellisari (DUI) to beat Michigan years back and to coddle Clarret(career thug) to win the NC...Redwingtom wrote:Even worse, the Toledo kid Sanzinwhatever got virtually no screen time when the game "leaders" stats were posted because he was actually one who followed the rules.
And welcome to the nest FMR! But why are you screaming your name?
It's pretty much business as usual down in c-bus, but sooner or later their little world of improper benefits, skirting the rules, and other illegal transgressions will come back to bite tre$$el in the azz... IMO, his golly gee demeanor will wear thin and people will be exposed to what the real JT is all about...

Re: Pryor and Tressel
Sorry, I really didn't want to get involved in another OSU discussion, but just to get facts correct, didn't Coach Tressel suspend Bellisari when he had the DUI and Craig Krenzel started the game and they won in the Big House (Tressel's first season at OSU?)? Maybe I am wrong so please correct me if I am. And, again maybe I am "misremembering" but what did Clarret do wrong during his one season he played at OSU? Was anything discovered during that season or after that would have made him ineligible by OSU or the NCAA? Once all of his issues arose, he never played another game at OSU.FORT MEIGS ROCKET wrote:Yup, done screaming... As an OSU fan (don't jump on me, BG comes first, OSU second) I thought the five players should have been suspended for the bowl game. But once the NCAA said they could play, I have a feeling ESPN and the Sugar Bowl powers made it clear to OSU that those guys needed to play. It is a business after all and last time I checked, there is nothing wrong with making money. Again, I don't agree with it but it is what it is.
Re: Pryor and Tressel
Tressel suspended Bellisari the morning after he was pulled over, and reinatated him the following Wednesday (for a total of 3 days). Bellisari suited up but didn't play for the Illinois game.
I wouldn't think much of the tattoo U scandal if it were not for the constant assertion that such problems do exist at Ohio State. The arrogance reached paramount, imo, when Tressel published a book describing his hard-nosed approach to eradicating these issues.
I wish this situation would change things, but history has shown that within 3 months we will be back to square one.

Re: Pryor and Tressel
Imagine a world where these infractions didn't come to light until say June of 2011. Would OSU have to vacate the bowl win? If no one knew about this stuff until after the game, would the NCAA strip the Bucks of their Sugar Bowl championship?
I'm thinking the timing worked out great for OSU 'cause if it wasn't discovered until after the 5 played in the bowl, their victory would have been vacated. This way, they get to keep the win.
Nonetheless for all the deserved banging OSU takes, they've won a BCS bowl each of the last two years, that's not too shabby. Imagine if they did all this stuff and were like 7-5.

Most OSU fans don't see anything wrong with the OSU program. They think they can do no wrong in Cbus and Jimmy is as clean as soap.FORT MEIGS ROCKET wrote:375 self reported violations and 33 arrests, or should I say illegal transgressions since saint jimmy took over the o$u program ... It is very hard to gather up any kind of respect for that renegade outfit down in C-bus...factman wrote:How about Pryor warming up in the pregame with a Miami Heat hat on his head backwards and cocked to the side? I have lost all respect for him and Tressel for even letting this happen. It seems to me the general rule of thumb for most coaches is that you have to wear "YOUR" team gear when doing anything team related, and certainly not something that just riles up most of your own fanbase.
WOW!!!! jsut WOW! I'm wondering whether Tressel is in touch with reality.

In regards to Clarett not doing anything wrong during his 1 year at o$u... Not that we know of...
Regardless, just the way he dressed down one of his coaches on the sidelines during some early season game should have warranted a sit down by the man in charge ... Hence, my insinuating that the punk was coddled by tre$$el for the sole reason of needing him to run the table to the NC...
My apologies for going on and on, on this o$u crap...
One common ground that I think a lot of Rocket @ Falcon share, is an utter hatred for the o$u progam and the way things are covered up, and it's business as usual down there...

Well, if he had any morals as a coach, he would have benched those players regardless of the NCAA's ruling. If he had done that, I might have more respect for him.

I thought he would at least not let them start. It's ok though he is a class act because he wears sweater vests and ties.
I could be speaking incorrectly but I am pretty sure his teams at YSU were just as dirty. I don't feel like looking this up, just something I use to always hear when I lived in the Youngstown area.

Re: Pryor and Tressel
I've heard rumblings that Tressel intended to bench these guys, but there was a lot of pressure from the President Gee, as in Little Sisters of the Poor Gee, to play these guys. Also goes hand in hand with a rumor that Cleveland Insider reported that Tressel was stepping down ... http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/15527. Of course that rumor was inaccurate, but if there indeed was pressure being applied by the president of the university on how Jim Tressel should run his team, it's not entirely inconceivable that Tressel was a bit unhappy about it and thus a retiring / resigning rumor began.
This is what I would like to believe. I mean, could you imagine how Woody Hayes would have reacted if he decided to bench some players and the current president of the university told him to play the guys?

My guess is that he'd probably punch an opposing linebacker in the throat during a game.MarkL wrote:. . . I mean, could you imagine how Woody Hayes would have reacted if he decided to bench some players and the current president of the university told him to play the guys?
