As much as I hate to say it after this weekend.........if we win another game I'll be happy.

The learning curve better be above average for these young guys returning next year or we are going to have a few more years similar to this.

Also on a side note - Community Night was a big hit with the community. Another gimmick from our amateur marketing department, we had more people last night.

Marketing....or lack of, is the problem.

"It starts at the top."

+1
Obviously we need to get someone in here that can inspire the sports programs to perform better, as well as get the community to take pride in BGSU athletics. Going to a hockey, bball, or football game should be a fun event for NWO residents to attend. With all the losing and poor gameday atmosphere, it's no secret why people stay away.

As far as the game last night, I thought Nagle played well for Ferris. Ferris is sneaky good, but they are still a team we should be able to split with. Close losses are still losses. UAH and middle of the pack Atlantic hockey teams are the only ones we can beat.

Is it marketing or is it a lack of people in the city of Bowling Green following BGSU athletics? The two could be related but you can't market beer to wine drinkers no matter how hard you try.

It just doesn't seem like as many HS or JH aged kids are at games. The kids that age you see are wearing varsity/school jacket from area school districts and not BG.

I agree with the marketing discussion; more has to be done. They also need to create a better environment between periods such as; pee-wee hockey games, figure skating, the band playing on the ice. The chuck-a-puck thing is great though we should keep that but try to increase the prizes, if we can; its still fun though.

This is such a great hockey area (NW OH & SW MI), Findlay lost their hockey program and we should be trying to pull those fans in along with the Toledo area. We are not just helping BG hockey here(most important), but we are also helping the sport of hockey grow by marketing our product. We have a great product here and for the most part a great game, win or lose.

This was a tough loss, but I was impressed with second period it really demonstrates what we are capable of. They were definitely more physical than we were, but this is nothing new. We just need to get bigger and it seems like we are working on that with our recruiting. We have really improved since our first game of the season against U of M. Ferris was much better than I thought they were going to be.

Chuck a puck has overstayed its welcome. It's something fun for the kids, once in awhile. Every game is way too much. Marketing activities between periods are way too long right now. There's only 15 minutes of intermission time. I don't remember the exact times anymore, but the players are supposed to be ready for the puck to drop at the 15 minute mark. If I remember correctly, the refs take the ice at the 3 minute mark, the home team at the 2 minute mark, visitors at the 1 minute, with the puck dropping as soon as the clock is reset. That only leaves 12 minutes total to make ice and set the nets. These marketing games keep dragging on and on and ice makes get shorter and shorter. Short ice makes mean crappy ice. Crappy ice......

As for the game, we scored 3 goals. Too bad 2 of them were in our own net.

Perhaps we could lengthen the intermission by adding 2 or 3 media timeouts. Gotta think outside the box.

+1000000000000000000 :-D

How about if we add ALL of the media time outs to the intermission?

Yes it will. But the team isn't winning so it's the for marketing to actually do something. Like let the community know when it's community night.

I heard the announcements at the women's basketball games.

I read the announcements at the men's basketball games.

I saw the advertisements in the Sentinel-Tribune.

I heard Dave Horger mention it on his radio show.
