i am glad the department is using the facility to generate funds. They need to be doing more of this kind of with all of our facilities. But I guess some will always see it as a horrible idea.....
If you're going to charge $25 and $35 for a concert, you should probably have someone that the general population had heard of.
Someone that the general population has heard of will charge 3 to 4 times that amount for a concert ticket.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Since the concert is being held at a university, the tickets are usually reasonably priced. The highest price I've seen for tickets was around $40 I believe, and that was when Ludacris was here (or it was Black Eyed Peas). Regardless, to get an artist in that is somewhat better known wouldn't put ticket prices above $50 I wouldn't think.

I remember when I went to the Ludacris show back in '02 or '03 at Anderson. I was in the 3rd row. I am not a big rap fan, but I was definitely familiar with Ludacris. I had a good time, but no one can hear anything in that place. The echo was so awful that the rap beats were an incoherent mess.

One of the acts was Distrubing the Peace. They really stunk, but they had the most ignorant song that will stick in my head for the rest of my life called "break sum". It was actually quite hilarious.

Anyway I ave this guy's song a listen, and its got some foul language, but definitely nothing I'd consider extreme compared to others in the industry. I thought it was pretty boring. Black and gold are my 2 least favorite colors too.

sorry guys but you are all showing your age. no college age kids would ever go to a concert of the people you were naming(who the hell is george jones anyway??). When I was in school from 02-06, I was on UAO which is the committee that books entertainment. Frankly, the hip hop shows are the only shows that do well as far as ticket sales. In 02 Ludacris came, SOLD OUT in a half hour. In 03, Black Eyed peas and Nappy Roots came, that sold out. Then next year they tried I think Dashboard Confessional, wasn't close to a sell out. Then they tried Jason Mraz...for a great show that he put on there was only a couple hundred people there. The University books shows for the students not the public. Every year there are papers passed through every dorm with a list of acts who they would want to see and year after year the hip hot acts always finish on top. THe one exception was when OAR was really popular but at the time we couldn't get them. As far as George Strait goes....I'm pretty sure nobody under 40 could name more then 1 song from him which is all my ex's in texas or however it goes.

As far as Wiz Khalifa goes, his Black and Yellow single has been as high as number 6 on the billboard top 100....so if you have stepped foot inside a bar or club the last 4 months...you are gauranteed to hear this song.

Typically, pop culture is not transferable from one generation to the next.

Therefore, give the people (students) what they want and mo' money will be separated from thier pockets. This alumnus is already well aware that the athletic dept. was not expecting me to show up. Heck, I never even got an invitation.

Hard to believe she was doing those Weight Watcher commercials ten or fifteen years ago. Must have worked for her.
