The CCHA team breakdown on the list:
Alaska 3
Miami 2
Michigan 2
Michigan State 1
Notre Dame 1
Ohio State 1
Western Michigan 1

Not bad for an 11th place team, eh? :-D
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Having been a season ticket holder for many years dating back to when we use to pump out 25 win seasons on a regular basis, if any of you really think we have a top 10 player in the country I have some property to sell you.

It's nice to see these guys on the list but they are probably not even in the top 10 of the CCHA.

Sexton was the best player we have had in a while and even he wasn't a top five player in the country. These three guys are not even close to Sexton's level plus as long as we are not winning our guys are never going to put up numbers that are comparable to others across the nation.

No one said we had players in the top ten in the country. We don't. My point was that it was nice to see BG names on THAT list...especially from an 11th place team. Any postive mention of the Falcon Hockey program on the national level is a good thing!! :supz:

completely agree with the above points, which is why I'm voting every day to try and generate some interest in our team! Any publicity we get from this is a bonus!!!

At the risk of sounding like some wet blanket, I feel compelled to sound off on this topic. To suggest that any of the BG players listed on the ballot deserve consideration as "the nation's top college hockey player" is beyond ridiculous.

The process that allows, in fact, encourages fans to vote for their hometown players regardless of their qualifications cheapens the award. As a true lover of the game, I decline to participate in this charade, and encourage others to do likewise.

Agree with why you feel this way, but most know that all of those "hometown" votes only equal ONE vote in the whole process. When all is said and done, I don't think there was any final winner who didn't deserve the award. Other fan voters around the country that see BG's name on that FAN-ONLY ballot three times may see BG Hockey with a little respect (deserved or not, aside), being mentioned on the same national stage as others that are annually there. Also, the exposure for recruits or the recruits who are on the fence, see that too!! I repeat, national exposure is not a bad thing! Who knows, in 2-3 years we may have a player on the list that truly has a legitimate shot at it. (Yeah, I'm always the optimist regarding the program!!!)

GO FALCON HOCKEY!!!!
