That's the attitude we need around BG. New arena, new money and new attitude may get us dancing. Go Falcons! Thanks Mr. Frack.

I hadn't even thought of that, but perhaps a tailgate is in order. . . .

Hopefully by then I'll have my Anderson Arena retrospective tome completed.

Metzger & I have discussed possibly tailgating for the final game. We may have to do this.

The day is Saturday, March 5

Still not sure of the time. Although it will be sometime in the afternoon. We have the closing party on Saturday evening.

It sounds like they're smart enough to know how to use this. Recruiting and coaching salaries are the name of the game.

Look at high-major programs and one thing you'll also notice is the size of the support staff: a full-time director of basketball operations with responsibilities beyond secretarial, video coordinators, multiple graduate assistants to break down film and do the grunt work that allow the coaches to focus on more important duties.

All due respect to the lip service paid to how this will help "academic support," but the purpose of this gift wasn't to raise the team GPA from a 3.1 to a 3.3. You don't need $10 million for that. It was to position us to compete at a high level, win championships and get back to the NCAA tournament. Just like we didn't need to justify getting a new basketball arena based on how it would help make graduation ceremonies easier, we shouldn't apologize for doing what every other school is doing and that's trying to win.

Good follow up article of the timing of the funds from Mr. Frack's gift:

http://www.toledoblade.com/article/2011 ... /101190407

My hope is the university can start funding the program at the higher levels going into season #1 in the Stroh. Let's get this party started now!

The more I think about this whole thing...the new Stroh Center...the amazing gifts from the Stroh family and Mr. Frack AND others, it is un-FALCON-believable. To even THINK that something tangible IS being done to push the men's program back to NCAA tourney caliber is CRAZY exciting.

FORWARD FALCONS!!!
