WHAT HE SAID!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

BG definitely has a chance at getting their first victory of the academic year against a Toledo team. Our ladies are playing defense well right now but are extremely challenged on offense. The men are purely awful and will present little resistance. A couple of wins should take away some of the sting of the consecutive losses in volleyball, soccer, cross country (Men and women) and football and give BG a cushion to prepare for the annual (since 1989) loss in swimming to the Rocket Ladies (has it really been twenty-one years? That goes back almost to the days when my wife was swimming for the Rockets). That and the ten million cushion to your men's program which was a very nice get.

Of course following on the heels of the swim meet will be indoor track where the Rockets are developing some strong field events to go with their monster distance crew so that doesn't look too promising either.

But I'd just about trade them all for a hoops win for the men. Ain't gonna happen this year though.

Ahhh H2O...glad to see you enjoying ut's success this year against your superior brothers to the South! Congrats...so far.

The BG swimming team is having a good year...they'll give ya a run. Hoops, baseball, softball...BG has plenty of wins on the horizon. :-D Wish you had a rugby team and not the Celtics...heh heh.

With BG leading in virtually every sport's all time series, I know it can rub ya the wrong way a bit. :tonqe:

Isn't the rivaly just the best?

GO FALCONS! CRUSH ut!

I'm pretty sure that BG isn't ahead in swimming what with the TWENTY-ONE meet streak by the Rockets. I'm guessing that's the longest in any sport by either team and you have been drinking too much orange koolaid if you think that's changing this year. Should be fun though, with two new coaches in their first rivalry meet(no NIU is NOT our rival in football or anything else). I know you live for those all time records and its gotta be killing you to watch them dwindle away as the Rockets begin to dominate all the non-revs with the exception, I suppose of baseball and softball. And soccer.

Seriously thoug, UT has turned a corner in the "Olympic" sports. I don't chase coaches around or bring them coffee at their early morning practices but I did find myself in the rare position of talking to our athletic director the other night and it is clear that there is a commitment to these sports that hasn't been there in the past. BG seems to have taken a turn in the other direction- I'm hoping that the big donation will have a ripple effect for other sports and we'll see some competitiveness out of the Falcons in some of their traditional strength areas like track and hockey. Anyway good luck this week-BG takes (maybe) baseball? Softball? Maybe tennis? Rockets take indoor track, swimming, outdoor track, both golf (although I don't think they do dual matches against each other which should be a rule-head to head against each other in every sport).

Plus I predict that no matter who wins in basketball this week that Falcon fans will sing praises to Rockets before each game. And no other team anywhere can say that!

Please don't compare your team to our National Anthem.
Show our Spirit,
Make them Fear it,
Fight for Dear Bee Gee.

Pretty sure it's "rockets' red glare" - not "blue and gold glare."
