Rumors have the football team in total meltdown

Post by birdman »

with the coaches on the requiting trail the off season workouts are not going well. Players not showing up to lift and condition and no one stepping up to lead. How can players advise someone who has only been here one year at best. Were are the leaders? Losing the strength coach was huge and the one who made players pay the price. No one is talking charge and spring ball is not to far off. Who can we start to blame, Not ragging the staff just the way it is :(

Only 18 posts in and I'm sick of you Birdman. In 18 posts you have managed to complain about every aspect of the program; recruiting, coaching, captains, off season workouts.

When will you be bring up that they serve spaghetti on Fridays before games instead of lasagna?

***Edit---You also complained about students not showing up for the games and the PA music.

I'm thrilled to see what posts 19 and on bring us.

Rumors have the earth melting. December 21, 2012 is only a year and ten months and some change away, and absolutely all scientists agree that we will fall asleep that night and will never wake up. Rumors say that the earth's crust has already begun melting and breaking up and we all have a very limited time left to live as the continents break apart, lava from layers below the crust rises to flood the planet, and we're all doomed unless we climb the nearest mountain as high as possible. I'm citing all this with absolutely nobody to back me up, but it's the rumor. Who should we blame for this? The government? Industry? The Mayans? George Lucas?

Falcon137, if you're going to complain about Birdman, please post the correct words - it's REQUITING not recruiting

Don't go too hard on him, after all he and I agree that we need more country music played over the PA 8-)

Falcon135; Your right. Who stands up for the players and the team as a whole? We went from bowl games to one of the worst team in history of BG. How would you like to be a junior or senior and get past over for a freshmen and end a great career at 2-10. Lets look for ways to bring use back to the top. I live on campus and hear we are in trouble from top top to bottom. Give us some facts on solving the problem. Here something: Back-up QB Pagel has left the team along with a few others. Instead of bad mouthing, give me facts. We are that bad :butthead:

Where on campus do you live? In the tunnels? You sure as hell can't be a student with that spelling and use of the language.

I'm glad freshman are beating out juniors and seniors for spots. Clawson is upgrading the talent left behind. As for Pagel leaving.....it happens to every program every year.

I'm glad you're here to spread rumors about the football team using an anonymous name on a message board. You will bring this program back to glory! Thanks for standing up for us.

Yup...if you put faith in the recruting services at all, Clawson is bringing in better talent than Brandon did. It's not too suprising that those kids are moving up the depth chart.
The problems we faced last year were as much the fault of Brandon's 2007 and 2008 classes lacking quality depth and kids who could stick as anything else.

If someone isn't putting the effort in than F them. You're getting a free education, do the damn weight work. Excuse me while I brag, but I used to bench sets of 10 with 300lbs (all the weight I owned) and over 400lbs for 5 on the hammer bench....I didn't need some clipboard jockey to get me there, I just worked at it. Yeah, spring ball isn't too far off...the guys who worked will separate themseoves from the guys who didn't quickly enough.

So far as Pagel goes...it's a shame he left because he did have some talent, but the writing was on the wall for him. When Schilz got hurt last year did his name come up at all in the discussion? He's the #4 QB and they got a verbal from a *** kid. The math didn't look promising for him...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

If birdman's spelling and grammar are that of a university student I'd say we have far bigger issues than the state of the football team.

We were 2-10. I don't think players leaving is really all that upsetting...LOL. But as Flip said, the ones abandoning ship after a little adversity aren't welcome in the program anyway as far as I am concerned.

Uh, you do realize that if Pagel is leaving, it's probably not because he's "escaping a sinking ship." It's probably because in front of him on the depth chart are Matt Schilz, Trent Hurley, and Caleb Watkins. Pagel will be a sophomore next year, and Schilz, Hurley, and Watkins will all be freshmen or sophomores. If he sees the opportunity to play elsewhere, he should take it because if he gets playing time here, it's probably because lots of injuries ahead of him occurred. And, we even discussed on this board in the fall the possibility of losing a QB or two, as we had 5 viable QBs as freshmen or sophs last fall (Watkins, Hurley, Schilz, Pagel, Pankratz).

Sky's not falling. Nothing to talk about.

1. I put no faith in the recruiting pages. They have almost never been accurate in terms of who steps up for BG. With that said I think that he is recruiting better, but I want him to so thats easy for me to do. The measuring cant really happen for a few years.

2. You are prescribing your interest and your motivation to these guys. If that was something we could do we would not need a strength and conditioning coach. Some may have different body types then you. I could lift forever and never bench 300. You could run forever nad never run a marathon. Its just how it is. The strength coach is there to keep them motivated when they have a million other things to do.

3. QB is perhaps the position where it is easiest to see the writing on the wall in terms of PT. Only one guy can play. If Pagel is leaving I am sure its because Hurley, Schilz and Johnson are all in the fold and all above him. I would not be surprised if both he and Pankratz left.

Overall this entire thread reeks of piling on and cliqueish mob mentality behavior. If you are annoyed by him ignore him. I think that eventual he will get the point and up his game. Insulting him is not very welcoming. Its an internet message board.

As far as I am concerned they are 18-22 year olds and i would expect 18-22 year olds to have some decision making issues.

What if they are not. What if he is a guy from the community who had to start working at a young age and never really fit in with the education system. And he found this message board and has loved BG football his entire life. Is he not welcome? does he deserve to be insulted?

He is 18 posts into the message board, is he expected to have the sophistication of someone with thousands?
