Holy Smokes!! ANOTHER Fla. DB.

Post by Class of 61 »

Don't know who's recruiting Fla. these days, but another DB has just verballed to BG... Darrell Hunter, 5'11"- 175 from W.Palm Beach... Also offered by Buffalo, Cincy, Marshall, WMU among others... My only question is ... these guys all seemed to be CLONES of one another, similar Ht., Wt. etc. It'll be interesting to see if my theory about adding SPEED is the biggest reason for this influx of Fla. players...Just hope we'll be able to keep them after they get a taste of a BG winter....or simply Wind!!!

Also, just realized that Monsignor Pace HS is Willie Geter's alma mater... Samual and Greene are both there now.

Looked up the article in Fla. re: Darrell Hunter...he evidently was the "shutdown" corner who hurt Glenville in the early season controversial loss to the Tarblooders.... think this was the game where Jack Nicklaus (I think) grandson went bonkers at the end, after Glenville was evidently given two extra plays to score and win the game, based upon bad calls...I recall Kirk Herbstreit criticizing the refs too. ](*,)

Hunter visited Pittsburgh over the weekend. He's now going to decide between BG, Cincy, and Pitt. He's still considering himself a BG commit at this point though. Hopefully you can hang onto him.

Right now it's looking pretty good for BG to keep Hunter and sign him next Wednesday. Pitt's still an option, but he is definitely leaning towards staying with BG.

He just picks up his red phone. He has every recruit in the country on speed dial and they all know him well, divulging information without a care.
