Buffalo Upsets CMU
Buffalo Upsets CMU
Buffalo went on the road today and upset CMU in a noon time game today. Was really hoping CMU would keep winning to put pressure on UT and plus keep our quality win. That home loss will devastate CMU rpi and thus effect ours. Either CMU overlooked Buffalo or they are still reeling from the whooping we put on them.

Or Buffalo has maybe the best player in the league in Kourtney Brown. Her stats for the game:
33 Points (14 of 22)
16 Rebounds
6 Blocks
3 Steals
2 Assists
Not to mention that we have first hand knowledge that CMU plays little D.
I'm guessing they must have shipped in a bunch of school kids though as I can't hardly believe the announced attendance of 4,982.

It was indeed a school day event. This is the second one Buffalo has been involved in this year. A few weeks ago they played a noon time game at Miami.

This is an interesting idea........I wouldn't be totally against it.

I already brought up that idea on this board a few weeks ago. We do several similar things with the Colts granted our games are on Sundays. People on this board didn't like the idea of giving up ONE night home game for a midday weekday game. Ticket holders would need to miss work, etc. I think one midday game inviting grade school and middle school kids is a great idea. Schools are looking for 'cheap' close field trips especially in hard economic times. I think driving buses less than an hour would be a great trip. And we can always find volunteers to help out a good cause. But like I said I got raked over the coals when I brought up the idea a few weeks ago.

I can understand the concerns but its ONE game. The kids that came to that game could have a great time and decide to come to BG. I dnt see how this doesn't benefit our school, if we can get some high schools to agree of course. Getting young people involved with BG is something that no one should be able to argue against. Plus, thats what vacation days are for!!!gmartin wrote:I already brought up that idea on this board a few weeks ago. We do several similar things with the Colts granted our games are on Sundays. There is nothing wrong with bringing in an arena full of school kids to take in a game. I think the argument against it was more on the school district side. If you have a game during the week school districts must commit to bringing their students. In budget times like we have now it is simply not in the cards. For the few districts that still allow field trips and educational component must be attached. If that requirement could be satisfied then this could fly. If not, it's a great idea with bad timing.

Journey. What is more cost effective. Sending 200 kids from Elmwood schools to the Sautter Museum in Archbold, Oh, which is a 75 minute bus ride, or send them to an enjoyable basketball game and bus the kids 20 minutes. If 5 other schools in the MAC, along with Butler down here iin Indy, and Wisconsin Green Bay, and I am sure many others, but if those schools
can do it then why can't Bowling Green. Is it that those parts of America are more financial stable? BG has 23 school districts within a 30 minute drive and that's not including the Toledo school districts. Packing up grade school and middle school kids and going to a
ballgame is more cost effective than driving an hour for another event. And many parents would come along and that my friend is how you build a fan base. Get them in the door and if just 1 out of every 10 kids returns for a future game then you did your job.

Interesting that you should mention Kourtney Brown as the best player in the league... Curt Miller said something similar to this right after / before? the UB game... But as long as LP is in the league, I can't see anyone else taking that honor away... No, she won't show the overall numbers listed above, but that's usually because she doesn't HAVE to...My most favorable impression of Lauren is that she lets the game come to her...do what she NEEDS to do to help the Falcons win.
