Re: Bracketology
When was the last time that a MAC tournament champion got a 16th seed? Going off of history, I just don't see a MAC tournament champion getting a 16th seed, regardless of who the tournament champion is. And if anyone's interested, here's the past ten years of MAC representation in the NCAA tournament, seeding, and rounds won:
2010, Ohio, 14 (won 1 round)
2009, Akron, 13
2008, Kent, 9
2007, Miami, 14
2006, Kent, 12
2005, Ohio, 13
2004, Western Michigan, 11
2003, Central Michigan, 11 (won 1 round)
2002, Kent, 10 (Elite 8)
2001, Kent, 13 (won 1 round)
I don't think I missed any. I don't think there were any times in the last 10 years where two MAC teams were in the tournament, but if there were any, someone please correct me!

Re: Bracketology
Considering how he makes his bracket at this time of year, it makes sense to have BG as a 16 seed. But the only way the MAC tournament champion will get a 16 seed is if a team that finishes in the bottom half of the conference during the regular season wins the tournament.

Re: Bracketology
Actually given the fact that we're only 10-11 on the season against D-I opposition and our RPI is 230, it's very plausible that we could be a 16-seed and headed to a play-in game.
I think what some people here are forgetting is that we were one of the worst teams in all of Division I during the non-conference schedule. The committee is going to look heavily at that during the seeding process if we do make the tournament.

If BG finishes in the top half of the conference and wins the conference tournament, its RPI would be much better than 230. Of course, it depends on just how many (and which) games BG wins down the stretch. Any of the other (seemingly) legitimate contenders for the bid are in better shape than BG as of now.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Actually given the fact that we're only 10-11 on the season against D-I opposition and our RPI is 230, it's very plausible that we could be a 16-seed and headed to a play-in game.
