Roads improved going home. Never happier to cross the overpass at 75 on the trip in. The snow was coming down such that it was like driving on an unmarked path in fog. Could not tell where the edge or center of Rt 6 was most of the way.

The game got better in the second half. First half we were physically dominated by a stronger and bigger team. Quickness of hands and feet brought us back in the second half. Really like this team. Little more experience and add some bulk over the summer the future looks brighter and brighter. And in the present they are hardly out of the race this year.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but that is scary. Route 6 is not the place to be on a windy winter day when you can't see the lines, especially with semis coming the other direction.

It sounds like the men just didn't have much going in the first half. I don't know if it was bad defense, bad offense, or just general ineptitude, but as I said in the women's thread, you can't spot teams big leads in the first half and be a winning team. You have to expend so much energy physically and mentally to come back from 18-point deficits and you also need the balls to bounce your way on some key plays. The game would've been right there for the taking were it not for the early poor play.

Overall BG is still in decent shape, but this one stings a bit. Gotta finish up well against the remaining West teams because the East teams the 2nd time around are going to be tough.

I just got home from making the round trip journey from Cleveland in that snow....and I don't know which was worse, the roads, or us in the first half? This look nothing like the team I saw against Ohio and Miami. And we should NEVER find ourselves down by 19 points in the first half at home to any team in the MAC! Needless to say, we played a better second half and cut it to 5 with under 4:00 to go. Calhoun was a monster in the second half for us. Wow! McElroy and Thomas were solid as well, but we got very little out of our four guards out there tonight. We really could use a two guard who can create and consistently score for us. I can only hope Henderson is that guy next year. But that first half tonight was just a killer, simply was too much to overcome. We were commenting how the youth game at halftime was more competitive than the actual first half of the game. Also, what is it with teams like WMU or Akron in Anderson Arena? Seems like they always have our number. Anyway, it was just one game and we've been playing better prior to tonight, we just need to bounce back against Ball State on Wednesday.

Everybody on 6 was in the same boat so nobody was doing more than 25. Saftey by speed (or lack of).

I think what we saw yesterday on the court was Western able to play shutdown defense and have a really nice "3" shooting half. Western was hot from all over - we moved well but they just kept making the next pass until they got an open look. Ball movement was good for them. We seem to be unable to run our offense due to the physical nature of the game - eventually our quickness started pay off.

A hot streak shooting in the 1st half would have meant the gap would have never reached 18 or 19 or a hot streak in the 2nd half would have meant a win. Never happened and that's the way it works some nights. I don't believe the guys ever played extremely poorly but they couldn't knock 'em down when they needed a string of baskets.

Despite the loss, we had a great time hanging with Falcon Fanatic, Class of 61, Hammb, Grant and Metz. WMU shot the lights out from 3 in the first half...dang. Get back on track this week. We're still only a 1/2 game outta first.
