Ive talked with the external affairs director as part of a mkt class, and she has assured us that the seats under the basket will be reserved for students only at every game. Not sure where they would put students if all that fills up but it would be a good problem to have.

The bleachers across from the benches would be a student section if students actually showed up. I remember when it WAS a student section. I would guess, sitting in those bleachers and across the court, that the bleachers are no more than 2/3 capacity at any men's game this season and over half of those sitting there are not students. Guessing capacity at 800 - 900 I would suggest that no more than 300 students have been at any given game this year. Could seat them next to the band on the south end nearly every game if needed.

I miss the students - please come to the Stroh next year! I believe there are plenty of seats and some of us miss the energy you provide.

Yeah, it's a shame that there is no student presence for Anderson's last season. I too remember when the entire bleacher section was filled with students. I used to stand down there when I was younger, and it was a BLAST!! Nowadays, if a group of students tries to stand in the student section, they get yelled at by the people around them. But I digress...

Boy, I've got some comments, but I'm going to keep them to myself.

Let's get some students to COME to games first, then get a name for them. I'm sure next years' students will be complaining that it's too far from campus to go, or some such thing.

Sadly, I'm very afraid you might be proven correct Grant.

OTOH, I could see this team being VERY good, and VERY exciting to watch next season, so perhaps the students will come out to see a winner?

Seriously...we have a team that is competing for a MAC title this season and the only thing we really lose is our PG. And yeah, he may be the starter, but he plays less than 8 minutes, averages less than 4 points, and is clearly our #2 PG in the grand scheme of things. This team should be GOOD next year. And if Jehvon Clarke comes as advertised they could be VERY GOOD.

Hambb,
Is there a reason that no one is mentioning Henderson in the mix for next year? Thought he was going to be a "go to" type guard...add Clarke to the mix too, and the backcourt should be well stocked for several years to come.

I think the only reason nobody is mentioning Henderson is because most of us have never seen him play. I had high hopes for him based on what I heard from those that saw him play in HS.

I still have some hope that Henderson is going to be a scoring guard for us in the future, but I will admit I do temper my enthusiasm for basketball players who take a Redshirt. Most true star hoops guys are ready to contribute right from the get go, but in Henderson's case I wonder how much of the redshirt is due to getting acclimated to the college classroom versus playing ability? I'm no lover of Dee Brown, and Kraus is mostly in for defense, so there are minutes at SG there for him if he can play.

I honestly have never seen the kid play, so I don't know what to expect. I'm hopeful that he's a gem waiting to shine when he gets on the court. If he is then this team could be stellar next year. Even if he's not ready to contribute next year this team should be really good.

Gems don't shine... they reflect and amplify all the bright lights around them.

Holding a contest to come up with a nickname will result in an epic fail in that no one will choose to use a nickname that comes from a contest. Except of course the marketing types in the athletic department for whom this is another example of their mind-numbing consistency.

Successful nicknames grow organically and arise through common usage, not by fiat or by desire of the person or entity being nicknamed.

Just ask this guy how many people started calling him "T-Bone".
