UT radio announcer

Post by gmartin »

Last year I expressed my displeasure of the UT women's basketball radio announcer and after hearing him again today I once again want to express my displeasure. While driving back from The BG - EMU game I turned on 1230AM to see what the UT - OU score was.

Within a few minutes of turning on the game the UT announcer was giving the other MAC scores. He gave the UB NIU score and then he said, 'BG 60 Eastern 55'. BG now a half game up on Kent in the East. And UT now 2 1/2 up on Eastern. BG goes to 20-4, 8-3. Prochaska had 37 today. I guess Curt Miller can stop whining and crying about his injured players'.

Come on Mark Beir!!!! That last remark was uncalled for. And then a few moments later he put down OU saying clearly UT was the better team and OU was overmatched and it was 'funny' how UT was blowing them out. Once again lack of respect!

I am sure H20Rocket would agree with me. This guy has to be the biggest 'homer' of an announcer and the way he talks he should not be broadcasting games.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Yeah, Beier is an a$$hat, but I have not heard him do regular season womens games before...not to mention he would have been in Toledo for the mens game.

A quick check of the game notes
http://www.utrockets.com//pdf8/738142.pdf

indicates that Rich Hoffer handles the pxp for the TU women.

You are correct, both Mark and Rich sound a like. It was Rich, and always has been Rich who has been the Dick. I guess his name fits him. But to say Curt Miller was crying and whining about injuries? Hello, we are injured. LP in a walking boot and TP has a bad knee and can barely move. And I am sorry, but calling UT 'superior' and saying OU is playing like a high school team?? All of his comments are uncalled for. My apologies for mixing him and Mark up. Rich is the one I was referring too

Interesting to note that Hoffer is a graduate of Ohio U.

IIRC...Hoffer was the genius that said UT football coach Tim Beckman "looked like a homo" into a live mic while working for BCSN.
