I really like the make up and athletic ability of this team and if we can get a TRUE PG we will be the team to beat next year. Kraus needs to be like a former player, Matt Otto and just be a shooter.

However, if we want to compete for the mac title THIS TEAM BETTER LEARN HOW TO SHOOT FOUL SHOTS. SHOOTING 40 PERCENT IN DIV 1 IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!

HOW BAD OF A LOSS WAS THIS GAME??? YSU record coming into this game was 8-18, losing 8 of their last 10. 2 of their 8 wins were against NON D1 schools. Two of their other wins were against Toledo and Samford. So basically they only had 4 'real' wins if you even want to include Wright State. THIS WAS A BAD LOSS!!!!!

Missed the game last night. Did we primarily play a zone defense? Seems like we should stay in the man-to-man. We have the depth to do so.

I agree our Zone is what got us on the streak we had but I think we have played enough games for the other teams do get enough tapes on us and enough scouting on how to attack the zone. I would like to see Coach Orr switch it up more during the game. Maybe a few possessions zone then to a man to man, then maybe a box and 1, then back to man, etc. I think our players are talented enough to switch it up on the fly but you rarely see it. It is either all zone or all man and very rarely any mid half changes.

they definitely need to do something different when the other team is shooting 50% from beyond 3.

To be honest we just seem tired

Wright State is having a good year, not sure what you're insinuating.

I said Wright State but I meant UIC. UIC RPI is over 300. UIC only had 1 other conference win. UIC beat YSU by 22 and YSU only beat UIC by 2 pts when they played at home. Basically you take out UIC, Toledo and the non D1 schools YSU basically had only 4 good wins.

Regardless, if we could shoot FTs and don't go on 5 min scoring droughts we would have won that game. Then again we could have said the same thing in every one of our losses except MSU, WMU, Dusquene or Kent. We have basically be in every game well into the second half except for about 4 games but our D always breaks down, we can't make foul shots or go on extended scoring droughts.

Yeah, clearly we're not yet a great team. These long scoring droughts are maddening, no doubt about it.

Personally I find it pretty easy to stay positive about this team and not get real upset when we go through these situations. Look at who's playing and contributing this year, do you realize how inexperienced we really are? I hate playing the "young" card, but there is no denying that this team is VERY inexperienced, and has shown some good signs of growth this year. Yeah, they've regressed the past few weeks, but still, I'm pretty optimistic about this team going forward.

Look at who's playing this year, compared to last season. Of our top 9 players by minutes this season, only 3 (Thomas, Brown, and Jakubowski) played large roles last year. 4 of our top players are sophomores, of whom only Crawford averaged over 10 mins a game last year (McElroy, Kraus, Crawford, and Calhoun). Throw in quite a few minutes (especially early in the year) from a true Freshman Cameron Black, and I find it very difficult to get upset when the team has these cold stretches.

They've put together some complete games this year and have shown that when they're on they can play with any team in our league. Unfortunately they've still got the streakiness and mental lapses of a very young and inexperienced basketball team. I'm hopeful that they'll put it together and make a bit of a run in the tournament this year, but really this group is building to the next couple years where they should be one of the best teams in the conference.

Will March 5 BE the last game at AA?

Post by Class of 61 »

A few weeks ago, it seemed as if the March 5 date could be "locked in" as the final game at AA..... but considering what has transpired over the past few weeks, is it POSSIBLE that we might have yet another game to play at AA, assuming of course that we still wind up in the top 8 seeds?
If we continue to go downhill, then we'll have to play at someone else's house, but the AA game still could happen IMO.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
