Findlay Flooding

I spoke with my grandparents earlier. They are staying at my parents house after being rescued in Findlay. There house was moved off its foundation from the flood waters and their car was swept off the driveway and moved over 1/4 mile. The floods in Findlay are bad. I was told this will be the second or worst flooding ever to hit Findlay, even worse than the flooding a few years ago.

I am trying to find some news footage from 13abc but none posted as of yet. If anyone finds a link could you please provide it. All time record flood stage is 18.4 and the latest is the river will crest at 18.0 ft. Can only imagine how bad it is in Bluffton, Tiffin, Pemberville and Waterville.

Waterville isn't flooded-I'm a little surprised. Came back from BG tonight and hit a flooded section of 65 just north of HAskins but nothing in Waterville. It may peak later-not sure how Grand Rapids is- it usually gets nailed hard. Our house was apprently flooded in 1902 (two years before I moved in) and everything was moved to the second floor to save it but when the new bridge was built a lot of the flooding here went away(something to do with ice flow breakup). We've only had water in houses on Water Street once since I've lived here. I'm on River Road and it never gets within 100 yards of us these days.

Well, it was only our second house and we only lived in the first one for forty years. Before that we were in the tipi and we moved in there right after Wayne came through and cleared out the Indians. Once I got out of the service in '65 my buddy Billy T. Sherman helped me get the down payment for the log cabin and then on to the current house in ought two. So I'm nearing Social Security eligibility age.

Don't know- I'm guessing you don't need to because, as I mentioned, you took everything up to the second floor before it got wet.

I still remember my first big flood though and it was pretty smelly. We had to hop a ride on a neighbor's boat and he had all these pairs of animals on there. It was a mess-violated I don't know how many EPA laws dumping waste over the side- it was a huge boat but there were sooo many animals. Not that we weren't grateful- a lot of folks didn't survive that one but still...it really reeked by the time we hit dry land on that mountain.
